IMDb Polls: IMDb Poll Tracking, Statistics & Leaderboard

Website: imdbstats.com

I created this small project for my college that some of you may find useful. Inspired by psnprofiles.com but I know it is not even close, lol.

This site provides poll authors with poll tracking and statistics.

Some key features:

  • Track, search, filter, and sort all polls and authors.
  • Track individual authors.
  • Search polls and authors easily using IMDb Poll Search.
  • *Updated almost every day! (mostly recent polls only)
  • *Can be updated on request. (author's lifetime polls) (please comment below to request an update)

You may also find IMDb markups at IMDb markup.

I'm also open to improvements and new features. Please share your feedback below.

Totally amazing.

Your HTML markup tips were already included in my own quick reference guide:

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls089671464/

I added a new header for Tracking, Statistics & Leaderboard (IMDbPolls.info)

IMDb Poll Search. great, I was searching the Poll Watch page using Control+F

And thank you, I'm glad you found the site useful. I'm also going to update the markup page soon and add emojis and icons.

Very impressive. This will greatly reduce the time needed to update the list of my polls manually (4-6 hours): https://www.imdb.com/list/ls092920081/. I will have more time to sort them by actors, directors, keywords, etc.

Nicely done. It's great that you've been able to automate this so you can update the statistics soon after new polls have been pushed.

I'm adding new polls every day manually.

Only getting the poll votes is automated, rest is done manually because except the votes nothing requires an update.

Fortunately, there are only three (3) or four (4) new polls each day, so that takes minimal effort.

I added a link to your IMDb Poll Tracking, Statistics & Leaderboard in the FAQ: Summary Statistics and to FAQ: Key Threads - IMDb Poll FAQs Index.

The overall count doesn't fit. Your site counts a total of 55.052 votes, but on November 20, 2021, 14:14 pm, UTC+1, I counted all-in-all 68609 votes. There must be a glitch, somehow - even though the project is mesmerizing.

I klicked all to show all 154 polls and down there, under the line at the end there stood 55.052 as a total, which is wrong, because I counted all my votes down a while ago and there were more than 68000.

I show 70,596 for Breumaster as of 24-December-2021:

This is very cool, well done!

I noticed a few things:

My first poll went live on October 13, not 14. EDIT: I misremembered, it was the 14th.

By "Day With Most Polls", do you mean a day we had more than one poll go live?

If so, it is August 19 2015 for me. "Most Polls in a Day" should say 2.

Hi @Jessica,

As per my data, these are the four polls published by you in August 2015.

May I know which are the two polls you believe were published on August 19 2015? Thanks.

Tip: replace "www" with "m" in an IMDb poll URL to view the mobile mode. In this mode, you'll find the correct date the poll was published recorded by IMDb itself.

Example: https://www.imdb.com/poll/UKOk1UM-Juo/ > https://m.imdb.com/poll/UKOk1UM-Juo/

It is possible to mistake a poll was published on a different date than what IMDb says if you're considering a different timezone.

Favorite Foreign Language Films and Favorite Chandler Bing Quote? (Part 1) both went live on Wednesday August 19, I'm sure about that. It's really odd that it says different dates, because they were pushed by one person. :)

I know new polls are published every day and most of the time at 12 AM midnight (EST).

Is it possible one went live before 12 AM and the other after 12 AM?

Because, I just checked Dan's poll data and as per his records, both of them polls went live on August 18.

>Is it possible one went live before 12 AM and the other after 12 AM?

The polls were pushed with only minutes apart. It probably says Aug 18 in Dan's data, because he pushed them and was going after his own timezone. On Wednesday August 19, 2015 both of my polls were there on the poll page, so even though one or both of them were pushed on the 18th, they went live together, for August 19.

But yeah, I agree the timezones can make it confusing. Polls go live at different times of the day depending on where you live.

@BonaFideBOSS, @Jessica, et al,

Currently, I generally keep track of the time a poll goes live to the resolution of a half-hour. I've been using Central time as my basis. I am using the Poll Admin Tool as the basis for when a poll goes live. Occasionally, I do not record the time a poll goes live until a day or two goes by. In those cases, the date may be off by a day or so.

Prior to March 13, 2015, I was not as diligent in keeping track of when a poll went live. The date that I have on record may be off by a day or so.

 While doing the counting of my poll votes. I noticed there that there are disparities between our "polls by type" lists. As an example, you website says I have authored 31 image polls, howewer, my own counting: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls092923762/ says I have done 18. There are errors on the "people" and "title" lists too. As my own lists aren't updated, except for "image polls" I can't give you all the errors, but I notice, for example, that most AFI polls were misplaced.

@cinephile

I cannot update the "poll type" information if the poll list is private or deleted. (Cannot always assume the type based on the poll.)

In that situation, which is for the polls that went live before I created my site, I've used @dan_dassow's poll data.

I recommend not deleting or making your lists private once the poll is published.

There are more than 1000 poll-lists that have been deleted or in private, therefore, the data about them on either my site or Dan's could be wrong.

Since you have raised this concern regarding your polls, I'll examine each of your polls and correct the data manually. [OR] If you could make your lists public, I can update your polls in a few minutes which would be much faster and accurate.

Let me know if you're willing to make your poll-lists public so I can give you a list of your private poll-lists. I hope you haven't deleted any of them.

Thank you.

I only deleted 8 lists over the years. Since then, to keep data for my "poll archive" I have recreated them.

A lot of my lists are private though (358), that is not my fault, a couple months ago, all my lists disappeared. Employees have restored them, but I haven't the force/time to edit all of them manually and set them "public" I might try during the weekend, but it will be a very long process.

@cinephile and @BonaFideBOSS ,

I exported the data for thenolanfan

https://imdbpolls.almir.info/user#ur91650024

I added the column labeled "Correct Type" as column H. I saved the file on my Google Drive as:

IMDb Polls by thenolanfan.xlsx

With the link:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZDtRvVeATHnMyeBoFquza4YOuUxum_fk/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=117299697074751581561&rtpof=true&sd=true

@cinephile, you should be able to edit the list. If not, please request access to the list.

Once you have access to the list, please enter the correct type when there is an error in the column "Correct Type".

Once you are satisfied you made all of the corrections, please post in this thread that you have done so. I will update my data as soon as practical.

= = =

When IMDb mistakenly made @cinephile's lists private, I was behind in recording data for polls. I had to guess for some polls as a result.

@Brijesh and @Breumaster ,

BonaFide initially updated his statistics every 2 or 3 days, then transitioned to every week. He also only did a full update to the polls every month. Speaking from personal experience, updating the number of votes for all active polls is a significant undertaking.

I believe that he mentioned that he would be on travel for a few days and did not have a the resources during travel. Obviously, BonaFide can correct any of my misstatements.

The poll data has been updated — 100%.

And as Dan said, I've to upload the data manually to the server. Automatic costs money which I currently don't have. But uploading is the easy part, it only takes about a minute. Retrieving the data from IMDb takes 9 hours for 10,642 polls (current no. of live polls). That's why I decided to do a 100% update only at the end of the month. But I'll honor personal requests anytime because it is easy to update one poll author. :)

@BonaFideBOSS I found a small error in the poll stats, probably due to the use of a point in numbers.

If I search the authors with the highest average votes I get this:

And if I search for the lowest average votes in the same table, I get this:
As you can see, all the authors below harishnj have a higher vote count than those at the top of the list.
But while the persons at the top have numbers that don't use a point, they appear higher.
It seems that once you reach 10,000, the system adds a point to help the reading, but the same system also takes that to be a decimal point and puts everyone reaching that milestone at the bottom of the table.

The data is displayed based on your browser's locale.

So if you have it set to Spanish, it will display numbers in Spanish format (1.234, 5). Changing the language to English will show the numbers in US format (1,234.5).

I'll force it to display the numbers in US format regardless of your browser's language in the next update (end of this month).

Edit: You can visit the link below to test if it works.

@BonaFideBOSS ,

Thanks.

I'm in the process of updating my version of the poll statistics.

Update

The site link has been changed from imdbpolls.almir.info to imdbstats.com.

Note: The old link will automatically redirect to the new site. This is available for only a short period of time. Apologies to those who are using the old link in their polls and lists. I upgraded this because I'm planning to expand the website.

@ACT_1

The signature feature is not available for me. They still haven't responded to that thread I created.
