Introducing: A Refreshed Look for Lists on IMDb

At this time there is no list search feature to find other customer's lists, but as mentioned in our List FAQ's on this question: you can use your preferred search engine. For example, if you are looking for lists mentioning the word director, you can use the following Google query: director site:imdb.com/list

You can also find lists by navigating to a user's profile page. For example, you can see all the lists created by our founder Col Needham.

As a workaround, the "site:" command enables you to search through a particular site (see Using the site: command | Google Search Central Blog).

For example, in your favorite search engine input:

"Top 250" site:https://www.imdb.com/list/

Preserve the quote marks when searching a phrase.

In the new list experience, we're intentionally showing only the first 6 lines of a list or poll description, with a "See more" option to view the rest.

The purpose of this change is to help customers viewing a list or poll (especially on mobile) see important details right when the page loads, without needing to scroll. For example, viewers can now immediately see the list creator, creation or modification date, watch progress, and the first few list items.

I understand this is not your preference for your list and appreciate feedback as we continue to iterate on the list experience.

Still, this is ridiculous and illogical.

If you want the viewers immediately see the list creator, creation or modification date, watch progress (all these is placed in one string of new design), please be clever enough to place such string at the very top -- before the name of list or the first line after it.

If a list includes many items, then a viewer always needs to scroll down, either on desktop or mobile. You can not replace this process with a shorten preamble. Showing immediately the first 1-2-3 items can not help him to advance in understanding more than a full view of description from the list creator. There are lists which explained enough by their names, but also lists that need the author description to understand why all those items are compiled together. Now the important details are hidden at start, so a viewer can scroll the list further with no understanding of what it is created for.

And please don't mislead others to the wrong idea that my example is something unique.

Currently there isn't a save or subscribe to a list feature; however, this is something we're actively exploring. Feedback like yours is very helpful in prioritizing what we build next. Thank you for sharing this request!

Previously, we had to click "See more" to see the whole intro text in lists, but now, if there are more than six rows of text, it can't be seen at all unless we click "See more". We can only see the title.

I can't say I have seen this. Maybe you need to give examples, perhaps specify browser etc.

So am I the only one seeing this, or can a staff member please confirm that this is an intended change?

I also noticed this on my computer, tablet and phone. Every time I make a list with more than six rows of text in the intro, I have to click "See More" to see the whole intro. But the whole intro is shown only if the list/poll has six or fewer rows of text in the intro. I don't see why this change was made or what it accomplished.

Thankfully I am not seeing this anymore, so I guess it was not an intended change by the IMDb staff.

I'm still seeing this, and it is the same for user profiles, you always have to click "See More" to see the profile bio.

Thank you for reporting this, and sorry for the delay as we investigated.

In the updated list and poll experience, the first 6 lines of your list description should display before you'd need to select "See more." Your reported experience of no description displaying unless you select "See more" was not an intentional change.

We were unable to reproduce this issue on polls or list pages. It sounds like you're no longer experiencing this, but please reach out if it happens again and we'll investigate further.

Can I confirm what you're experiencing? On lists, you should see up to 6 lines of description text before a "See more" option appears. Are you seeing those first 6 lines, or is no description showing at all until you select "See more"?

I'm not seeing the first 6 lines of text. There is no description showing at all until I click "See more". I am using IMDB on my phone.
