I know there's 35 already, but in my humble opinion poll can use one less character from GOT, so...

FYC:
Hornblower from Hornblower series of TV movies. Ioan Gruffudd is very good at fencing and yet people  usually don't remember that about him.

I can't help but notice that none of the characters are women.  How about River Tam, Xena, Buffy Summers, Mulan, or Yu Shu Lien?

after all the whingeing about women which this poll is NOT about......i need must mention that Gerard Butler who is almost as famous as Errol Flynn for swashbuckling is only listed once you missed  Gerard Butler in ''Attila'', ''Timeline'', ''Phantom of the Opera'' & ''Beowulf & Grendel'', besides 300 that you have mentioned. why can't you let Sparta go!!?!?!?!

i liked 300 til strangers started shouting ''THIS IS SPARTA'' AT Gerard in public. and once even when he was trying to pee!!!    i like the high concept look of the film, and it was executed well. Zach is brilliant and creative. Gerard completed a Herculean feat in his physical transformation but now everyone expects him to look like that all the time. that takes 6 hours a day and no food. come on get real.
i have seen photos of a Leonidas statue. i'm pretty sure the sculptor didn't know him. at least Gerard is better 'hung'.
