Personally I don't see myself using it, but it may help others.

Something I'd love, that maybe you'd consider (or maybe there a way to do it now I just don't know about?) is being able to go to the archive list and look for polls that ran on specific days. Or at least the month and year they ran? I want to know how long ago a poll when live.

If you want to know when a specific poll went live, you can switch to mobile view, which shows the date.

How can I find the list upon which a poll is base?

All IMDb polls are based upon IMDb lists. To find the list upon which a poll is based, replace "poll" with with "list" in a poll URL. If you receive a 404 (page not found) error, the author of the poll deleted the list. If the list is deleted, the poll cannot be updated.

So, in this case:
● http://www.imdb.com/poll/4eyyw7SK-0s/ (poll)
● http://www.imdb.com/list/4eyyw7SK-0s/ (list)
● http://www.imdb.com/list/ls056959189/ (this becomes this list)

I'll try to brainstorm ideas for more categories.

So far, I've thought: independent films, non-English language films, women, "iconic"/icons, film festivals and awards (other than the Oscars and GGs)

I'm trying to think of a way to categorize what, right now, I can only describe as creative, often humorous, out-of-the-box, often-Elmo-type polls. For instance, off the top of my head, I'm thinking of his "why did the chicken cross the road?" or my "Stewie Asks Hannibal Lecter for Tips..." but there have been many more.

When a poll fits within two or more categories, I look for the best fit. If I cannot determine a best fit, I arbitrarily choose the category.

I added IMDb-India-Spotlight as a category, which DC suggested below. This category will take precedence over Indian. I removed the Indiana Jones from the category Indian.

DC will probably have to provide guidance on the distinction, if any. I believe that IMDb-India-Spotlight are polls that have been featured on Indian Spotlight (https://www.imdb.com/india/), whereas Indian polls are polls related to India that have not been featured on Indian Spotlight.
Even if there is a distinction, there may not be enough Indian polls to break them out separately.

Hi Dan! Great job! This could be helpful, but if some polls have overlapping category, this could be misleading if i'm looking for some specific polls

For example: https://www.imdb.com/poll/ZH3vQ-jzNHM/
this poll is in Game of Thrones category, but i'm not gonna find it if I'm search in LotR category

Or a poll like this: https://www.imdb.com/poll/1hpEZvhXPtI/
this poll is in Actor category, not in IMDb poll board category, so if one is looking at IMDb poll board category, they might miss this poll

In this case, people maybe have to think more than one category if they're looking for a complete list of poll.

Could be better if you put polls with overlapping category in both (or more) category? But It will make the list more complicated and long. I don't know, just some thoughts. Perhaps you have better idea?

By the way I just found this poll https://www.imdb.com/poll/cJi7YRFyaxQ/ on Game of Thrones category, it should be on Marvel Cinematic Universe category, or maybe music category?

Thanks for pointing out that this poll (GOTG 2 - Favorite Song From Awesome Mix Vol. 2) belongs in the MCU category. I will include this correction in the next update.

This is definitely a work in progress and there are probably quite a few polls that I've placed in the wrong category.

I fully agree that polls can fall into multiple categories. I hope to eventually allow for multiple categories. Unfortunately, multiple categories would complicate updating the list and would make a very long list even longer.

One possible solution would be to assign a poll to a primary category and include a note that the poll also falls into other categories.

For example:

vote Friday Face-Off : Game of Thrones vs Lord of the Rings (Also: LotR)
...

Thanks for the feedback. I changed the categories for the polls as you suggested. I will double check the remaining polls that are marked closed to make certain they are actually closed. It's possible that when IMDb staff removed polls based on character lists they re-opened closed polls as a side effect.

I retained the category Razzie and added the BadFilms. The Razzies is a major award ceremony; I believe it deserves a category. Other polls may fall into the BadFilms category.
