Live Poll: IMDb Poll Board's Party of Golden Spirits

Intro:

Some time ago, we asked which poll board user's Party you would join as the eleventh guest. The celebrities had to be alive. This time we become a little creepy. Imagine that we could resurrect people from beyond. People that passed and left an important legacy, which kind of it ever would be. It could be acting, directing, musical achievements, roles in movies, drawing perfect pictures, achievements in medical progress, goaling in sport or more sober things like creating mathematical theories.

Which poll board user's resurrection party would you most likely join?

Please tell us here.

Suggestions:

Definitely gone people, luminaries in some kind. Like in the description it can be any kind of important achievement in music, arts, medicine, ... and so on. Please give me ten of them. Not 9 not eleven. Exact 10.

I like the idea by now, and of course your's and otter's suggestion. This idea lives from good suggestions. I hope some more users will join the idea. This a chance for a golden poll. The best thing is, that we have just a few doubelings. That's a good start.

I think I will take our both options away from the first two places, because the IMDb-voters could misunderstand it as a pure classical music poll (by first look). Sadly not so many people are interested in classical music today. The number of classical music fans sinks. Let's see what comes in. I'd put the most interesting images on place one and two.

I agree, that would be wise.

I've been a fan of classical music for as long as I can remember. I precociously lectured my classmates in first grade that classical music is vastly superior to rock and roll.

For my taste, Beethoven was the best ever and over all of them. Classical music, no whether if Beethoven, Bach, Mozart - just to name the big ones - is the most quality music one could choose. I also like some othe composers like Mahler, Dvorak, Schubert, Neidhart von Reuental, Pergolesi, Carl Orff, Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi, Georges Bizet, Edvard Grieg, Bedřich Smetana, Pachelbel, and many others.

Rock music is for fun, I also like it strongly. And even the plastic groups like Daft Punk find the way to my ear. Yello is one of the best synthesizer bands. They do interesting music. The Beatles - simply great! But for me the most noble way to hear music is to put a perfect interpretation of Beethoven to the player! Hearing it with a perfect equipment. Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, etc. ... :D :D :D.

Great list, Jessica. I've put it on top, because I'm also a big Disney fan. A pitty he died so early. Disney surely is a magnet for users to click. Clarence Clemons seems to be a jazz musician, I guess. Just Carl Sagan doesn't ring my bell. By the way a new rock-idea is on the way. ;)

Thanks. Like the other list, I tried to pick people that I not only like and admire, and would be fun to talk to, but I also imagine they would have some interesting discussions with each other.

Clarence Clemons was the saxophone player in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.

Kind of surprised you've never heard of Carl Sagan. :)

Very good, really. I must admit that I didn't have Sagan on my radar until now, but I did love 'Contact', which was a lovely movie. Jodie Foster was great. Matthew McConaughey  and the other acters were also very good. I did really like David Morse in the role of the father of young Ellie. Would be interesting to talk with Sagan about that movie. :D

Carl Sagan was the Neil deGrasse Tyson of his time. Like Tyson, he was a renowned astronomer who popularized astronomy and science in general. He was a regular guest on The Tonight Show (1953) with Johnny Carson.

Interesting. I really didn't know. I also didn't watch the Johnny Carson Show. That didn't run in Germany. There were several formats transported to Germany like Cheers, Golden Girls, Dallas, Denver Clan and Knight Rider, but these American talk- and/or Gameshows weren't really present in the 80s or 90s. I guess they didn't think the formats were interesting for Germans. You won't believe, Takeshi's Castle was - in the children's TV. We were able to watch 5 TV-Broadcasts until the middle of the1980s. (ARD - Allgemeine Rundfunkanstalten Deutschlands - First German TV-Broadcast, ZDF - Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen - Second German TV-Broadcast, BR - Bayrischer Runfunk, Bavarian Broadcast, ORF 1 and ORF 2, the two Austrian TV-Broadcasts we were able to receive. That was enough for Germany until the mid-80s. So they put special effort in only showing neccessary content. When I look at TV today, it was better in earlier times. Some formats they broadcast today (I don't aim on U.S. TV-Shows therewith) are just for second hand embarrasmant.

Thank you, I've put your list into an option.

You read Kant? I love Billy Shakespeare. He was so emotional intelligent.

Very good list, although I don't know Rumi. Which was his work like?

Of course I read some of Kant's books, one of his books that I like is 'Critique of Judgment', sometimes it has something to do with my studies at university.

Rumi is a Persian poet and Islamic theologian, he has many legendary poems in my mind.

Thank you for pointing out that the discussion link produces a 404 (Page not found) error. The reason why the link produces a 404 error is that only original author can edit their own post.

Maybe I changed the title inbetween and had to pick a new one and the copied it from the edit page. That could be a possible explanation. Do you still know if it had the same tile when it worked the first time?

Ibn Arabi is one of the greatest Islamic philosophers and mystics.
His thoughts directly or indirectly influenced most philosophers and thinkers after him.

@Breumaster and @Jessica ,

Congratulations (@Breumaster) on receiving 100K votes for your polls. I've been looking forward to seeing you make that accomplishment. Jessica alerted me to your achievement.

I sent an email to the IMDb staff member who awards the Poll Maker badge. It normally takes a few days for the badge to be awarded. It may take slightly longer due to the holiday season, end of year activities and award season.

I will let you know on Sprinklr when your badge has been awarded. It's possible you may find out before I do.

Please extend my best wishes to Frau Breumaster, and wish her a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
