Live Poll: The Most Fabulous Fictional Materials and Chemicals

Intro:

In some movies, incredible materials or chemicals are shown or just named. At the time of the movie's release they didn't seem realistic, but we love the mystic promise, advantage or even the thrilling threat of them.

Which idea of fictive materials or chemicals is the most fascinating?

(The name of the materials or chemicals are marked in bold)

Tell us here.

Suggestions:

Substances, essences and Materials which were fictional in the time of the movie-production, or are fictional. No documentations, TV-series. ... Additional explanation: It's not about devices or plain physics and should have a more chemical or at least metallurgical aspect.

Thank you again, Mario. I must admit that I didn't watch this movie. Which image of the movie would you pick? I don't want to pick the wrong one. I'd take your description for the option.

@Breumaster ,

For your consideration:

The Absent Minded Professor

Flubber

Plot: A college professor invents an anti-gravity substance which a corrupt businessman wants for himself. (FYI: Flubber is the name of the substance.)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054594/mediaviewer/rm2456317440?ref_=ttmi_mi_all_sf_99

The Absent Minded Professor (1961)

There is also a Robin Williams remake of this film.

@Breumaster ,

FYI:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flubber_(material)

Flubber (named from the film The Absent-Minded Professor), Glorp, Glurch, or Slime is a rubbery polymer formed by cross-linking of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with a boron compound. ...

... Flubber is a non-Newtonian fluid that flows under low stress, but breaks under higher stresses and pressures. This combination of fluid-like and solid-like properties makes it a Maxwell fluid. Its behavior can also be described as being viscoplastic or gelatinous.

The Flubber described in the Wikipedia article is not the same as the Flubber featured in the film.

Thank you, Dan. Flubber is now on the list. I wonder if I should also take the Robin William's Flubber movie on the list.

@Breumaster ,

Your list is focused on the fictional materials and chemicals. I recommend that you include Flubber only once in your list, but mention the three films that include the substance:

The Absent Minded Professor (1961)

Son of Flubber (1963)

Flubber (1997) - Which is a remake of the movie of The Absent Minded Professor

That way you could use the image that best communicates the anti-gravity property of Flubber.

There are many examples of fictional elements here.

@Tsarstepan

Thank you for pointing out, Tsar. I assure you I didn't want to copy your idea. Maybe I used the wrong keywords for the re-search in the sprinklr-forum. I'm glad that there are also some other materials on my list. I'm also glad that the title and the question are different from your's. Do you want me to put some of your's on this list?

I don't mind at all. That's not why I posted that link. It's an old poll with no current discussion thread (as it was the previous poll generation).

@Tsarstepan

Love your input! :D

I've put four of the examples of your list onto my list. Many of them wouldn't fit, because I'm searching for reality-movie's examples and most of your list are animated and many are series. But I still found four that fit this list very good. Thank you, Tsar.

Than you for asking. I've put four examples of Tsar's list to mine, because they fit very good.

If there are no further suggestions or corrections, I's say it's ready to go!

P.S.: Changed the question to:

Which idea of fictive materials or chemicals is the most fascinating?

... For making it more intersting.

P.P.S.: Finally changed the positions of the options to make it look better.

I guess I'll buy a t-shirt saying "I survived Covid, and all I got from it is a lousy t-shirt!"

Guess I'll have less time, because I'm returning to my job. But I'll change the title and status, if

this one becomes live. Beside the illness, it was much fun to join more intense again.

I submitted some images for this movie

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

This image shows that DeForest Kelley  is missing one finger that he lost fighting in war
