FYC:

Urbanemovies already made a similar poll: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls066523947/

I think we could add F.W. Murnau (Faust, Nosferatu), George Franju (Eyes Without a Face, Le sang des bêtes).

@Scholle2008

Sorry, I don't get these messages. I am fine with @Scholle2008 making a Part 2 for my poll: Best Movie and TV Horror Genre Director

Further, if you want to link to my original poll, I will do the same and link to your part two poll once it goes live.

@Scholle2008 It is kind a fine distinction between horror, suspense and thriller. Plus, I like you are listing notable directors from around the globe. But, you seem to be navigating through it. I am not suggesting these, but you may think one of these is better than the listed options.

@urbanemovies Oh, I thought you have listed Jordan Peele already. I've seen Nope, it was great

@Scholle2008 This poll went live seven years ago, when everyone was blown away by his first film in 2017. While, impressive it was hard to call him one of the greatest with a single horror film. I was using a minimum five films in the genre for consideration @ the time. I posted this a year ago, as I think after three films an exception can be made.

Also, I thought Alfred Hitchcock probably was worthy of the discussion too, but make a distinction between "suspense" and "horror", as he is the Master of Suspense.

@Scholle2008 I get it, just stating my reasons for him not being on v1.0. That I thought there were 35 others with a deeper horror resume. I don't disagree he should be listed among a deeper pool of 70 directors.

@Scholle2008    'Very good list! I'm going to have a hard time deciding on just one. Right now, I'm torn between four or five. And I say I'm not a horror fan, lol.

I can't say you how suprised I was to see The Long Walk by Francis Lawrence on the list. I guess me and my wife await it for more then 25 years. Stephen King; his alias Richard Bachman wrote it long time ago. I think it (the book) perfectly depicts obligation, fear, hopelessness, helplessness and suffering in an arbitrarily system/life-situation. There were so many people before, suffering this. To prevent such things,  one first got to understand the situation. It's like the situation for many people about 80 years ago ... in Germany. These marches were also called "Todesmarsch" ("The Long Walk").

@Breumaster

I really hope the movie is on highest thinkable quality. It's too touchy and necessary to mess up!

TO list the international films by their original (lesser known) nonEnglish titles... was a choice. Not saying it was a wise choice... but a choice. There's a lot of films to go clicking through (or not) to see exactly what the director directed.
