TOP 250 movies waiting period for new movies
I was hoping to not see Avengers: Endgame on the top 250 the day after it was released but sure enough it's number six on the list right now. Anyone that pays attention to the top 250 list will know that this movie will go down and eventually be no where near the top ten on the list. The people that really wanted to see this movie have seen it and more likely to rate it so it will naturally be higher than it should be. This is a common trend with most newer movies. I keep seeing movies jump up to the top 250 only to be brought back down after more normal, non-hyped people have seen and rated the movie. Same thing has occured with Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born.
What I would purpose to stop new movies from continuing to disrupt the top 250 is to have a temporary period where new movies can not show up on the top 250. I'm thinking somewhere in the 2-3 month range after a movie comes out. If after 2-3 months movie is in the top 250 then by all means it should be there after enough time for more people than the inital wave of people that REALLY wanted to see the movie. If you monitor the the top 250 you'll notice it happens all the time and disrupts anyone (like me) trying to watch the "normal" top 250.
