Live Poll: We Have Been Warned

Many classic films of the black and white era, especially Frank Capra’s movies, show how the media (especially newspapers) can be used in dirty politics, and how the hate card can be played in media campaign politics, and also depicted machine politics too. Some of them have honest politicians corrupted by the system. Sadly, things haven’t changed much and many of these films are still relevant today. These films just need a minor touch of updating to be remade today and still be relevant. Which of these old black and white films do you feel the most relevant today and can be remade today? (I don’t mean ones that has been already remade.)
The nominating petition is here if you have any to suggest. Just remember black and white films, never remade, about politics and can be updated with minor changes.

I’m sorry if this is too late to be contemporary with the election year in the USA, but with seeing the events in Washington DC and a cross the USA and the world for the past few years, and then watching these old films last year (and seeing I Married A Witch for the first time), I saw many correlations between current events and some of the things these movies were warning us about in the 30’s and 40’s. It was very scary.
the saddest part is that, even though I’m a Republican and Frank Capra was a life long Democrat, I don’t think Capra would approve of the Democratic Party of today.

dgranger,
For your consideration:
A Face in the Crowd (1957)
Shows a folk-singing drifter into a powerful narcissistic media star.
The Manchurian Candidate (1962)
Shows a presidential candidate co-opted by a foreign government.

Dgranger.
All the King's Men was remade in a star filled but not very succesful film from 2006
If you don't want remakes it does not qualify.
FYC:
Advise & Consent (1962)
Gabriel Over The White House (1933)
Exposed (1938)
Torchy Runs for Mayor (1939)
Tennessee Johnson (1942) - Biopic of first US President ever impeached.

dgranger,
For the films in which the plot summary says it all, you may wish to include the plot summary. The plot summary will not be visible if/when this becomes a poll. This will save the poll taker from having to look up the plot summary while taking the poll.

I think you are missing a word here:

This is such a good idea and good poll, granger (!) -- and it has a really great title, too.
A couple of the options say that the plot summary says it all, which is true, but the plot summaries don't show up in polls.
I'm not sure what "and also depicted machine politics too" means, which could mean that I'm just really tired -- or is it unclear?
Anyway, when I'm more awake, I'll decide on my vote. : )

'A few typos:
in the text for the last option:
coop d’stat --> coop d'etat
in #5:
Machine politics --> The political machine

Ace in the Hole (1951) - It is based on media sensationalism. A reporter goes on to cover the report of a man buried under a cliff and tries to fulfill his agenda, the sheriff's agenda for re-election, and other newspapers agenda to get the news feed at any cost.
I am not sure if it was missed or not considered, but looks like a nice candidate to add.
