Live Poll: Animal Encounter

Seeing an animal in the wild is always a memorable experience, whether it's a close encounter or a sight from afar. Not counting the zoo, what is the most fascinating wild animal you have seen?

Thanks. I considered the Komodo dragon, but their habitat is pretty limited.

From your list I have seen snakes (as a child and I ran scared), monkeys (from afar in a trip to Senegal) and Iguanas, in a beach in the Caribbean.

Besides that I have seen crabs, also in Senegal, and my favorite was a group fo nasuas I found in a hill while visiting an archeological zone called El Tepozteco here in Mexico. Those are the only ones I could get close too.

@Pencho15 And I saw jellyfishes also in a beach here in Mexico, but that wasn't a nice encounter.

Interesting! Of those you mentioned I've only seen snakes, but just harmless ones found in Sweden.

I'll add crab to the list. :)

@Jessica ,

I've seen a coyote in our backyard a few times. We had snakes in our backyard. We have wild rabbits in our backyard. We also have a pet rabbit. We also have turtles in our backyard. My daughters would keep these as pets when they were young. We have a lot of squirrels in our yard. We also have frogs in our backyard.

We frequently see deer in our neighborhood, especially during the night, and during spring and fall. I've also seen a few foxes.

We had swans on a lake in our neighborhood. We also have Canadian geese and ducks.

I saw a beaver while camping.

I saw bear, moose and buffalo at Yellowstone National park.

Sadly, the only armadillos I've seen were road kill in Dallas, Texas.

We have an eagle sanctuary nearby. They are majestic in flight.

Taking all this into account, I consider the eagle the most fascinating animal I've seen in the wild.

Thanks for sharing. That's an interesting backyard. I was surprised by the turtles. :)

Bear and buffalo must have been amazing.

In Sweden I've seen deer, moose, hedgehog, rabbit, snake, swan, duck, sheep, squirrel, eagle, crane and otter.

In other countries: turtle, elephant seal and chipmunk.

A lot of these animals were fascinating to me, but my pick is the moose, because they were very unexpected and memorable encounters close to where I live.

@Jessica ,

Re-pushed done:

Animal Encounter

Replaced missing image #32 (Armadillo).

Cute image.

We've had a few deer in our backyard this Spring. Some have even ventured into our fenced yard. I was able to take a picture of this deer calmly eating leaves just outside of our fenced area on 27-June-2023.
