I'll bite.

SONG: Home By The Sea (1983)

BAND: Genesis

ELEVATOR PITCH/PLOT:

Setting: The 80's. Our antihero/protagonist breaks into a gothic mansion on the coast to burgle art, jewelry, whatever valuable. She gets trapped in this haunted house by supernatural forces and needs to escape in order to survive.

IMAGE: Gothic mansion

I've been sitting on this idea for literal decades since I owned this album as a twee preteen. Gendered swapped from my original idea. Just because. Loosely based on the very vague lyrics.

Never established what country - could be Maine? Could be the UK? Could be Nova Scotia or Western Canada?

Awesome! :)

What genre would you choose for this movie?

And is the title of the movie the same as the song?

Yes to the title. Maybe horror and suspense?

I love this idea! I've often thought up movie scenes while listening to songs and a few short films so I guess I'm ready to make the move to a feature film, lol. I'll give it some thought and respond as soon as I've got something half decent. So many songs, so many possibilities; this will be fun. : )

@Jessica ,

For your consideration:

Title - Mission Statement

Genre - Drama, Comedy
Plot - This is the behind the scenes look at a creative business that develops mission statements for companies. Think of this as a modern day Mad Men, but one that reflects current day sensibilities.

Stand by Me is a 1986 American adult drama film directed by Rob Reiner. Based on the 1982 novel The Body by Stephen King, with the title taken from the song of the same name by Ben E. King, Stand By Me.

Thanks, but this poll is about coming up with a movie plot based on a song. It can't be an existing movie.

Just a few examples of existing movies that are based on songs. My idea is that we come up with "new" movies based on songs.

The Indian Runner (1991) is based on "Highway Patrolman" by Bruce Springsteen

Factory Girl (2006) is based on "Factory Girl" by The Rolling Stones

Nine to Five (1980) is based on "9-5" by Dolly Parton

Thank you!! Country artists really are great storytellers.

Added Phantom 309 and Homecoming. What genres would they be? Maybe Drama, Adventure for Phantom and Drama, Music for Homecoming?

Trying to find an image for "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town". And it's not a very catchy movie title, we should probably come up with a better one. :)

What do you think of "The Ghost of Big Joe" as a movie title instead of Phantom 309?

Might be a bit of a spoiler, but it's probably alright since the movie isn't real. :)

Phantom 309 - Adventure

Homecoming - Music, Drama (you pick amazing photo)

Maybe just Ruby?

It's dark tale, thriller or drama, both give the movie different direction,  I am tend to pick the last one.

I feel a little strange discussing an unreal movie 😊. It's a good photo, even very good (He looks like a veteran, looks frustrated and in pain, and sits) but for me, it doesn't completely reflect the relationship between the characters—mainly her alienation towards him. But the real reason is, in all the photos, we can't see clear faces. I think the poll would be better with more vague photos. I'm thinking about this one:

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0931329/mediaviewer/rm3136314880?ref_=nmmi_mi_tt_sf_1

Her body language seems distant.

Yes it's true that he paralyzed and standing but he holds her.

But this is only my opinion.  Pick the photo you thing will be better for your poll.

@Jessica ,

I've already made my suggestion. Here are some possible ideas for other Board Members to consider or to act as an inspiration:

Copacabana (At the Copa) 1985
Song by Barry Manilow
Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star ...

Lucille
Song by Kenny Rogers
On a barstool, she took off her ring
I thought I'd get closer so I walked on over
I sat down and asked her name
When the drinks finally hit her she said, I'm no quitter

Elvira
Song by The Oak Ridge Boys
With eyes that look like heaven
Lips like cherry wine
That girl can sure enough make my little light shine
I get a funny feelin' up and down my spine
'Cause I know that my Elvira's mine

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
Song by The Beatles
Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes

Jolene
Song by Dolly Parton
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

If you ask me, I don't think there is a need for a minimum suggestions from each user. The main thing is to turn this excellent idea into a poll.  No matter how many people contributed to the completion of your list.

I also believe 10-12 choices is enough.

FYC:

Title of Movie: 6'1" (Based on the song, 6'1", by Liz Phair)

Genre: Fantasy, Drama, Comedy

Tagline: What if women were "standing six-feet-one instead of five-feet-two?"

Plot: The main character, a single woman in her mid to late twenties, wakes up one day and is 6'1" tall when just the night before, and since her mid to late teens, she was 5'2" tall. Things get even stranger when she looks outside and all of the women and girls are much taller than usual and all of the men and boys are much shorter than usual. She is the only one who remembers that things weren't always this way and she realizes that this one change has changed practically everything.

Image: yikes! I haven't found one yet but I will very soon. I suppose I could even just use a photo of a woman with a confused look on her face.

Yay! I was waiting for your suggestion. :)

That's a really creative plot from those short lyrics. Maybe an image of a tall woman standing next to a short man would also work? I'll try to search as well.
