You could include the title characters ALF and Mork as they both had successful and high rated television series (as did the characters in Third Rock From The Sun).

I, however, would vote for Spock.

@TheOldJalapenoman good candidates.

Spock is certainly a logical choice. However, the human race is rarely logical.

We shall see who comes out on top.

There are also:

The Coneheads (went from being a skit on Saturday Night Live to a made for tv cartoon movie and then a feature film)

My Favorite Martian (a 60's tv series that became a 70's cartoon series and then a 90's feature film)

@TheOldJalapenoman ,

Trivial Question:

On "My Favorite Martian", what is canned ensor?

@dan_dassow   Where did you see this phrase?  I have heard of canned laughter (a laugh track), but not canned ensor.  Is this a typo for something like condensor?

I haven't watched the show in fifty years and don't remember this phrase if it was on the program.

Maybe I'm just too old, but I still don't understand what it is that a Social Media Influencer actually does or accomplishes.  No, I don't do Farcebook/Fakebook or Twitter or Snapchat or Instagram or any of those as they are a nothing but a waste of time.  I really don't care what anyone had for dinner or what they are wearing today.

It is essentially a popularity contest. Certain people are interesting for others to watch or listen to. Similar to how gossip columns used to entertain the masses about established celebrities, but now any individuals can market their own personalities and skills. In today's world, you don't need to be in a movie or a rock band to be famous; you could be a world traveller, a movie reviewer, a stylist... even just share your thoughts about the world. If you're likeable, you can gain fame, popularity and influence others.

Is that sort of how people like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton are famous even though they have accomplished NOTHING other than being skanks?

I've never seen anything with them in (I'm not their target market). But from what I gather, the millions they've made is down to their successful business choices, and targeting to the right audience. Do I think they should have the level of fame they have? Probably not. Sure I'd rather scientists, doctors, builders and teachers got the recognition and public interest. Unfortunately, the majority of society would rather see a pretty dress, absorb some faux drama and live vicariously in others' luxury.
