Live Poll: My Best Movie Friend

A best friend is that person that's always there for you, no matter what, or is that person with whom you can talk to about everything, or that person that's just a party animal and always gives you the best time of your life.

From these movie characters, who would you like to have as a best friend?

The list can be found here: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls029129692/
Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/X6_ogzMxUgE/

If you have any suggestions, feel free to tell me.

From the point of view of the story, I go with Aibileen and Minnie's relationship, when Aibileen was narrating their relationship, she says that Minnie helped her and supported her in the most difficult moment of her life that was when she lost her child... and throughout the movie you can see the strong relationship they have.
From the point of view that transcends beyond screen I will probably go with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.

...but since you are asking a "best friend" and not "favorite friendship", i will now be succint and say Aibileen Clark. ;)

What about Mike from "Deer Hunter"?
I remember that in the movie there is a moment when Nick tells Mike before they go to war, for Mike to not abandon him there, under any circumstances ... Mike promises and later on in the movie, he fulfills what he promised although the tragic ending and there are many moments that show the truly friendship that they have like the Russian rollet scene or the scene when they talk before they go to hunt.

and there's more I can mention like..

Earl and Greg from "Me, Earl and the dying Girl"
Bryan and Mike from "End of Watch"
Driss and Philippe from "The Intouchables"

You could use the lyrics of this Harry Nilsson song as your title - "People let me tell you 'bout my best friend."

I like the idea but I'm not too hot about a few characters you listed, Jordan Belfort is rich , he's a party animal, but is that enough to make him a best friend, he's the kind of guy who wouldn't be best friend with anybody, who'd have friends and colleagues but he wouldn't trust anyone enough to make him his best friend except if he was also a business friend (and even then)... so I'm not sure about his inclusion, "Bluto" from "Animal House" would be a more suitable ambassador of the "party animal" category in my opinion.

Also I really miss some good characters like Rocky Balboa, can anyone be a better best friend, or George Bailey... for what it's worth, I made a poll about friends a while ago, you might find some interesting choices :https://www.imdb.com/poll/q2dNE_sz5dw/

There's no problem, sometimes we forget some things, or the opinion just changes (:

And thank you for your help with your poll, I added some of the characters to the list (:

I really like this poll and I love the title but I'm thinking that " - The Movie Edition" might make it too long. Dan would know for sure if it would cause a problem so if you haven't changed the title since Dan commented on this (three weeks ago), it's probably ok.

If you've changed the title since then, however, I'd suggest shortening it a bit: Perhaps "People Let Me Tell You 'bout My Best Friend (Movies)" or, safer yet, just "People Let Me Tell You 'bout My Best Friend," then, if you do make a TV version you could add modifiers to the end at that point.

Oh and hi Batman. : )

NoPantsBatmanTM,

I understand the reference to the "Courtship of Eddie's Father" with the title:
People Let Me Tell You 'bout My Best Friend - The Movie Edition

I watched the television show when it first aired.

However, the title is rather long. Long titles do not tend to work well with IMDb polls. I agree with Ruby that a shorter title would work better.

I recommend a relatively short title:
My Best Movie Friend

This would allow you to have a television version with the title:
My Best TV Friend

Thank you both for all the feedback. It does make sense and I thought the same while writing the title. I just wrote it like that because I do have a poll suggestion related to the TV best friends.

Having that in mind, would the title "People Let Me Tell You 'bout My Best Friend (Movies)" work (like ruby suggested), or is it still too long, and I should shorten it even more?

NoPantsBatmanTM,

The title "People Let Me Tell You 'bout My Best Friend (Movies)" is probably OK, but still rather long. Creating effective titles is somewhat of an art form and may take multiple attempts. Effective titles draw in an audience.

Think about it this way: if which film would you rather see?
'People Let Me Tell You 'bout My Best Friend (Movies)'
or
'My Best Movie Friend'

'My Best Movie Friend' is a good idea. That I prefer that one says a lot because I love the idea of "People Let Me Tell You 'bout My Best Friend" as a title. I'd be sad to see that go (it sounds great, it's catchy, and, for me, it's nostalgic because I used to watch re-runs of that show a lot when I was little) but I think "My Best Movie Friend" does work better as a title.

(I remember seeing Jodie Foster on "Courtship of Eddie's Father," lol. She must have been about seven or eight years old. I think she played a little girl named Joey. : ) By the time I saw it, she must have already been "The Jodie Foster" but I probably wasn't aware of that. Yet, I still remember her vividly. I wonder if that's because she's that good.)

Oh, yeah, she's definitely that good. I just wonder if, at the age of four or so, I would have been impacted that much by a performance to compel my brain to store it in its memory, lol. She's extraordinary, even at that young age, and she's my favorite. And yes, Tatem was also quite the actor as a child. 'Paper Moon' is a classic, largely due to her.

You are both right, I had to make the title change on both lists.

And Jodie Foster does have a big passion for acting, maybe that's also why she was able to give you such as impact at that young age.
