Live Poll: Manliest Movie Characters

There's a new men's fragrance commercial and it's your task to choose one of the many ultra-manly movie characters to star in it: these guys exude the traits society has deemed as archetypal 'macho man' - they're brave, courageous, tough and muscular! NO superheroes with this one; sorry Bruces.

Which of these manliest movie characters do you choose?

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls027118696/

By definition, the Terminator is not a manly character - he is a robot/cyborg.

I think a more manly character played by Statham is Chev Chelios.

FYC:
Dom - the Fast & Furious movies
Edmond Dantes - the Count of Monte Cristo
Lee - Enter the Dragon
Spartacus - Spartacus
Atticus Finch - To Kill a Mockingbird
Brian Mills - Taken

And, of course, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast:

Thanks for the great suggestions Jen. Due to my reaching 35 options, I combined Dom and Hobbs into one option (both fast and furious heavyweights) and took out Terminator due to your explanation. Also, I added all except for Mills and Finch; while I don't deny their masculinity as leading men, I don't truly see them as "Old spice" type of guys, especially compared to the other guys that have populated the list. And plus, 35 has been hit!

And I just remembered Danny Trejo! THAT is a MANLY MAN! Though he'd probably wear Loewe para Hombre instead of Old Spice. Or maybe just a dab of chili sauce behind each ear... :D

You sure about Jim Stark? He's a teen idol, technically not a full man, and even in the film, he needed a strong male inspiration and blamed his Dad for not projecting the right model... besides, would a manly man be so whiny and tell his parents that they're tearing him apart?

And how about?
Rocky Balboa
Rick Blaine (Bogart is the ultimate macho icon, not muscular, but his palm was muscular enough to deliver some effective punches)
Tarzan

... and Toshiro Mifune? the Asian macho icon before Bruce Lee. In Seven Samurai, he was quite the Dude!

Thanks for the comment ElM, it feels like so long since anyone's commented on some of my older poll suggestions :)

You're right about Stark, it makes total sense so I think I'll swap him with Tarzan. I love Rick Blaine but I don't know if he fits the "Old Spice" archetype of a man, though I get what you're saying in that he is as much of a man as any of these juiceheads. I've tried to limit the options to one per actor, as I had Rocky listed under Rambo but I could swap them if need be.

Toshiro could be a good one, may not have room for him.

You have Conan and then you have John Matrix or any other Schwarzenegger role. You could combine those to free up another spot.

I still think Bryan Mills is an Old Spice man. :)

Jen,

I have since combined them as you suggested. Not sure if I'd have room for Mills, but I will consider him nevertheless.

Old Spice is a brand name and should be capitalized.

Kyle,

Since this is a character list, the name links for Schwarzenegger and Norris under their characters may trigger the display of their headshots rather than the character images, which may not be what you're after.

Kyle,

Expanding on what Peter wrote, If you wish to retain the character image:

Please change:
04 or any other [link=nm0000216] character.
05 or any other [link=nm0001569] character.

To:
04 or any other [link=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000216/]Arnold Schwarzenegger[/link] character.
05 or any other [link=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001569/]Chuck Norris[/link] character.
This will keep the links to Schwarzenegger and Norris' name pages, but will not override the character image.

Dan,

Thank you for the advice. I will do that now and ask for a re-push - I don't want to lose the character pics!

Kyle,

https://trademarks.justia.com/786/45/old-78645572.html
Old Spice (TM) is a trade mark of The Procter & Gamble Company. Since the brand name is trade marked, it should appear with the trade mark symbol.

It's probably a bad idea to use the name of a specific product in a poll. IMDb would be implicitly endorsing the product. I recommend that you change:
There's a new Old Spice commercial ...

To:
There's a new men's fragrance commercial ...

I am not a intellectual property (IP) lawyer. However, I've worked with IP lawyers on a regular basis.

Cool Hand Luke. 'Interesting poll and I like the intro, I like that you address the reader with a specific narrative: 'creative instead of just a plain old question.
