I'm confused. Do you want us to suggest places we have actually visited?

3.6K Messages

 •

55.3K Points

exactly, a place where a movie was made and where you have been there.

or a place about which the movie is about

it can be a city

example, you have traveled to new york,

the movie could be "escape from new york"

Allright.

I live in Mexico City were many films have been shot, probably the most famous is the Spectre "Día de muertos" scene 007: Spectre (2015) (imdb.com)

I have travelled to 22 countries, I guess I can find something in all of them.

Among them is Malta where a lot of Game of Thrones was filmed, and I was lucky enough to see the Azure Window before it collapsed.

Senegal Gorée Island were I was told they filmed the cliff scenes in Guns from Navarone Los cañones de Navarone (1961) (imdb.com)

I'll stop here so other people can participate, but if you want more I gladly look into it.

Hannibal

Piazza San Marco Venezia.

I was there more than a decade before the movie was made.

But I errased Hollywood, because I re-read your intro and got it, that we should only pick places we were - and not where we want to be sometimes. I never was in Hollywood, so it is out of rules. Sorry.

What about Das Boot? I don't know if the set was also in Hamburg (river Elbe), but I was there and in the Bavaria film studios Munich, Geiselgasteig, where a rebuilding of the U-96 stood and was able to go through it. I was going through that boat when I was a kid. It was extremely thrilling to experience the small confinement of that boat. It was easy to bump the head somewhere.

@Breumaster

P.S.: maybe you could skip G.I.Joe for it, because the Eiffel-Tower is listed twice as an option.

I thought the poll was about places we have actually been to? Not places we would like to visit.

Then Dibyayan's option should be removed.

Please also remove one of Breumaster's Eiffel Tower options, since it's the place we are voting for.

You may wish to also include the city of Salzburg, Austria. Many of the locations in The Sound of Music (1965) are in Salzburg. Matter of fact, there is still a Sound of Music tour conducted in Salzburg. I found the tour interesting 50 years ago when I had the opportunity to visit Germany and spend three weeks in Salzburg.

@dan_dassow Salzburg included. I was there once too. I thought I was inside a postcard. I was amazed by golden roofs and Luftlmalerei. Or was it Innsbruck???

I do not remember any golden roofs, but It's been 50 years since I've been to Salzburg.

Neuschwanstein Castle (Schloss Neuschwanstein) and Herrenchiemsee are amazing. I did not get a chance to see Linderhof Palace when I visited Germany and Austria 50 years ago.

I think it would be better if you only asked one question, preferably:

Which place would you like to visit?

And since you include TV series as well, please edit:

Contributors of the IMDb Poll Board have visited a place, region, city or country where a remarkable movie or TV series was set.

@mariojacobs ,

For your consideration:

Meet Me in St. Louis

Forest Park, St. Louis, Missouri - Site of the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair

Sadly, Meet Me in St. Louis was filmed in:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037059/locations/

La Grande Station, Downtown, Los Angeles, California, USA
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios - 10202 W. Washington Blvd., Culver City, California, USA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Purchase_Exposition

The Louisiana Purchase Exposition, informally known as the St. Louis World's Fair, was an international exposition held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, from April 30 to December 1, 1904.

Lambert International Airport - 10701 Lambert International Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Renaissance Grand Hotel

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_in_the_Air_(2009_film)#Filming

Filming began in St. Louis on March 3, 2009, and continued through the end of April.[19] The film includes 80 different sets at 50 locations throughout the St. Louis area, including St. Louis Lambert International Airport Concourse C and Concourse D[32][33] (which played the part of several airports across America), the Mansion House apartments in downtown St. Louis,[20] Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark, Hilton St. Louis Airport, DHR International building (8000 Maryland Ave.),[34] the Cheshire Inn, the GenAmerica building (700 Market), Renaissance Grand Hotel, Maplewood United Methodist Church, and Affton High School.[35] The film shot at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport for five days, twenty hours each day.[36]

The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold

Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort

I stayed at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort on June 27 through 29, 2005 while they were filming The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold (2006).

I saw one scene filmed by the pool on June 28, 2005. The lighting and sound crew set up before I got back to the hotel from a meeting. Around 9:00 p.m. pacific daylight time, the lighting crew turned on the lights. It took about an hour for the lighting crew to make all of its adjustments. There was a lot of traffic noise from the Pacific Coast Highway which is adjacent to the hotel. Christy Carlson Romano and Ross Thomas were dressed in sweat suits while waiting to play the scene. Ross Thomas wore a blue sweat suit with red vertical stripes on his legs.

Around 10:00 p.m. they started to film one scene. Christy was wearing a blue sequenced top, a bright yellow light-weight dress and bright red boots. She starts at the edge of the pool, walks toward the hotel lobby, pauses, gestures, continues to walk toward the young man, kneels down and talks with Ross Thomas. The scene was filmed three times. However, it did not appear in the film.

@Jessica ,

Carmel-by-the-Sea, California is a great little town. I've been there a couple of times after attending a conference held in Monterey, California.

Did you get a chance to dine at Hog's Breath Inn? It was owned by Clint Eastwood and sold to a good family friend, Kaiser Morcus, a seasoned restaurateur, hotelier, grocer, butcher, and entrepreneur. The restaurant has a lot of pictures of Clint Eastwood in character along with other Clint Eastwood memorabilia.

I hope you got a chance to see the Monterey Aquarium, the 17 Mile Drive and Pebble Beach Golf Club.

Sadly, no. I wish I'd had more time in Carmel, but we only stayed for one night as we were driving along the Pacific coastline. I remember it was a very cozy little town, and I'd love to go back some day.
