Live Poll: IMDb Poll Board User Top 10 Movies

As strange as it is, we covered many areas of Top 10 favorites but never the plain Top 10 Favorite Movies, I know for sure we didn't because I don't remember having suggested my personal Top 10 in any other poll. So here it is:

From this list of IMDb Poll Board User Top 10 personal favorite movies, which one sounds the most interesting?

I'll make the list once I get enough propositions (it's about Top 10 favorite not the movies you believe are the best in the world, those you watched the most in your life, you know by heart,  can watch anytime and anywhere and have a deep connection with)

Mine never changed in the past 10 years:
The Godfather
The Godfather Part II
Goodfellas
Once Upon a Time in America
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Scarface
Rocky
The Graduate
Tootsie
Back to the Future

List: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls020465132/

the commitments

barbarians at the gate

the paper

jfk

12 angry men

I have no bias against documentaries so feel free to add one if you really feel hot about it.

i appreciate that but seriously...it would probably ravage my entire current top ten movie list...

better if someone were to make a top ten documentary poll as well and keep them separate...

but thank you so much for the offer...

'Nice to see Lars & the Real Girl. That might be on my list, too. I love that film.

I feel like I need to change up my list, after seeing everyone else pick a lot of top 250 movies...or I just have bad taste. :)

NDbportmanfan 1,

I did not consider whether any of my favorites are in the IMDb Top 250. I chose my favorites based upon their special meaning for me. Do not feel obliged to change your list to include more IMDb Top 250 films.

Wow, great list UM - several just by looking at these titles have a 100% RT score. Nice picking.

Thanks, I really didn't rank them in this order urbanemovies: 1. The Godfather 2. Citizen Kane 3. Lawrence of Arabia 4. Chinatown 5. Cool Hand Luke 6. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 7. It's a Wonderful Life 8. Apocalypse Now (Redux) 9. Dr. Strangelove 10. Das Boot

I don't really have a favorite anymore; although all these movies at one time or another were my favorite. It really hard for me to favor one over another, I prefer to to appreciate them with their particular genres, as being my favorite or the "best" Other than The Godfather (1972), most are not appreciated to the degree that I think they should be.

This might probably be the strangest list!  " (it's about Top 10 favorite not the movies you believe are the best in the world, those you watched the most in your life, you know by heart,  can watch anytime and anywhere and have a deep connection with) " - created according to this.

- 1. Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind
  2. Lost in Translation
  3. In the Mood for Love
  4. Three Colors: Red
  5. The Tree of Life
  6. Her
  7. Paris, Texas
  8. Frances Ha
  9. Eternity and a Day
  10. Amores Perros

(With a really close competition by Incendies, Yi Yi, There Will be Blood, Taxi Driver, Holy Motors)

Surprise, surprise, at least three, maybe four, of yours are on my list, lol. Those are amazing odds. Mine will definitely include Red (from the Three Colors trilogy) and Lost in Translation, and will probably include either, or both, The Tree of Life and/or Paris, Texas.

Glad to know that, Ruby! All of these resonate with me so deeply that I wouldn't mind putting them over many masterpieces too.

I'm now excited to see your list!

It's a truely great list and I think that it's likely that many will be considered masterpieces with the passage of time. But I know what you mean. I feel so incredibly  strongly about my favorites, too.

Yes! Some of these would most probably end up as masterpieces in few years! I like the two parts of Godfather or Casablanca or Citizen Cane or 12 angry men, but the ones from my list are so personal to me! Each of these movies have a special connection with me. Whether it's a character like Theodore from her or Music or the Mood from the film, it just touches me like nothing else can.

This is a great idea, Elmo! And it's so much fun reading everyone's great lists. But it's absolutely torture trying to choose just ten, lol.

The only thing I know for sure is that it will include Salaam Bombay (1988), Three Colors: Red (1994), Reds (1981), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Lost in Translation (2004), and Silence of the Lambs (1991). I'll post all ten soon and hope I won't change my mind a hundred times in a week.. :)

I've been considering for a long time doing something similar to what ElM posted here.

My concept is to export the ratings for all the IMDb Poll Board and IMDb GS Poll Board contributors with public ratings. I would average the ratings and finding the 35 top rated films for the contributors and create a poll.

1.3K Messages

That would be amazing! I'm really curious about this Top 35. But it must be a lot of work.

I should hustle and try to rate more films, then, or at least my favorites. My ratings on IMDb are woefully incomplete. I started a list of my own, on my laptop, somewhere around 2007 and that list in incomplete but it has thousands, as opposed to the hundreds on IMDb.
