I would like to immediately dismiss 'Barbie', but with the casting and Greta Gerwig directing, I don't think I can.
I assume a "too close to call" option is out of the question?
FYI, it looks like both films share the same estimated budgets too and are projected to finish within 10% of each other in final worldwide box office and then flip positions in final domestic box office tally. You might want to clarify if you are referring to North American (domestic) or worldwide ticket sales in your question, as it makes a difference. I agree with the industry numbers that Barbie has more domestic appeal, while Oppenheimer has more global appeal.

I think Barbie will work better. The public is larger. It will draw in theaters the creepy internet losers who have a crush on Margot Robbie since The Wolf of Wallstreet, the cinephiles who like Greta Gerwig's career, the women who grew up with Barbie, the young girls who are in love with Barbie (their father, their mother, their grandmother, their grandfather, and their older brother who does not want to be there.)
Meanwhile, for Oppenheimer, the public is Nolanites and that is about it.
