Live Poll: Face Off: Bryce Dallas Howard vs. Jessica Chastain

There will be a second part of the Horror-Blockbuster "It" (2017). I see two major women, who could take the part for the roll of Beverly March. Who do you think is more appropriate for the role?

Breumaster,

I updated the thread to an idea. This is the thread type for poll suggestions.

Thank you, Dan.  :D

I saw Jessica Chastain is rumored to "It - Chaper Two", but then i thought about Bryce Dallas Howard and compared faces. I think the face of Bryce Dallas Howard is more equal to  the face of Sophia Lillis than the face of Jessica Chastain. Both of them are great actresses, no question. But i think the face of Bryce does fit more. When you look at pictures at IMDb database and compare them, maybe you would admit.

Sure, I'm no casting director, but i would cast her. So i admit, i'm not really neutral, but i want people to overthink and to show, what they really think about. If they think Jessica is the only one, who fits, it's okay for me. ;) Hollywood does, as Hollywood does ... i'm just a film freak with ideas.

I like the idea of Bryce Dallas Howard playing the role of Beverly Marsh.

Suggestion: can you make It (2017) in the description clickable, so people can easily compare how Beverly Marsh looked like as a child (Sophia Lillis)?

I've updated my Poll-List. But for me it was hard to find equal faces of Jessica Chastain on IMDb, that come near to the same expressions Sophia Lillis did. I think it's essential to be able make nearere face-expressions to make it authentically. It was more easy to find that pictures in the gallery of Bryce Dallas Howard. When you look at Amy Adams.

First i Thought she would be a good candidate, but my wife showed me up one point. The shape of the face of Amy Adams doesn't really fit. The proportion does not fit. Amy Adams face is longer, but i guess she would do the right face-expressions, too.

When I look at Jessica Chastain then i have the feeling, she didn't make feared faces in one of her roles i saw. I can't imagine, that this strong woman would show fear, but maybe it's essential for the role of Beverly Marsh. Maybe i'm wrong by haven't seen all movies of her. But on the base of my memories of movies with her in it, I would say, she does not really fit. Even if she is an excellent actress i love for her acting.

Hi, leavey ! :D
Now i did like you suggested before. After the comment of Jessica, I overthinked my atitude to set both filmes separate clickabel. Maybe it's really better to put the link into the text for making the poll more compact. ;)

Breumaster,

IMDb updated their list software. Color formatting tags currently do not work for title and name lists. Color formatting tags still work for character lists and for polls.

Thank you, Dan. Will the feature of text-coloring be installed some time later? Or will this be permanent for future? Thank you for the fast answer. :D

Hi, Guys! :)
What do you think about the options i put on the list?
Do you think it's ok or is this too much? Spelling? Else?

I think it's a good face-off, but the intro is rather long and hard to follow.
May I suggest some changes?
Please read before voting ! This Poll is bound to a specific movie ! ;)
Perhaps this can be removed; you could instead add the name of the film in the title:
The 'It' Face-Off: Bryce Dallas Howard vs. Jessica Chastain
There will be a second part of the horror-blockbuster It; the planned sequel It: Chapter Two. I see two major women who could take on the role as Beverly March. Who do you think is more appropriate for the role?
You can link the films here in this text, instead of below. The second question is unnecessary.
(Sorry, i tried hard to find a picture on IMDb where Jessica Chastain looks feared for "Jessica Chastain #2". I didn't find one.)
This could also be excluded.

Thank you Jessica.  I changed the List. I'm not really safe in picking the right words and phrases, when i communicate in english. And I'm suffering from being misunderstood or from misunderstanding something someone other wrote. So it's very worthy for me too get help for finding better words or phrases. This was the most helpful suggestion. So i put you on first place in the Thank yous of the Poll. ;)

I just wrote about the picture-hunt, because it was really hard to find a feared face-expression of  Jessica Chastain. But you are right. I guess the sentence is much to manipulative for getting an objective result.

Honestly: What do think about the suggestion now?
Any user on this plattform is invited to do so. :D

I changed it to Marsh. ;) And sorry for me reacting so slow. It's because we were in Cinema at night for "A quit Place". This movie was awesome high-tensioned with an ending all people loved. ;) Before that I had to avoid the computer, because my wife works at home. ;)

You weren't slow at all. None of us can be chained to our computers, thank goodness, lol, and this one isn't time-sensitive the way that some polls occasionally are so no worries whatsoever. I have a poll that I started -- and originally suggested in 2014 -- and it's still not done, lol.

I can't wait to see a A Quiet Place! "High-tension" was a phrase a friend of mine used to describe it, too, as well as "great," "resonant," and "hypnotic." Hopefully I'll see it this weekend.

I could at least comment it. I'm curious. I wish you much fun

I had originally suggested that 2014 poll on the old poll board but when the poll board was closed and we moved to this GetSatisfaction site, I didn't post it here because I figured I'd finish it. Talking about it and all the great work you put into this poll inspires me to start working on it again so I think I'll post it soon. It's called "Do the Twist" (and could definitely use some suggestions),  and I have several others from 2013 and 2014 that I never suggested but I started and now am thinking I'll salvage a few of them. :)
I'll let you know when I re-post "Do the Twist;" thanks for the encouragement.

This suggestion is moot as it's been made official that Jessica Chastain will be cast as Beverly.

Thank you for this article. I didn't know that.

Till last day it was only "rumored" on IMDb, that Jessica Chastain is "in" the role of Beverly Marsh. Well, she will do, ok! But don't you want to know, what the audience thinks? If Jessica Chastain is the only one the audience want to see - well, that's ok by me. I love her acting. She will do it! If this poll is contra-productive, skip the poll ! I still think Bryce Dallas Howard is a very good contestant for the role. Even if I know Jessica Chastain will do right.

Since it's carved in stone, that Jessica Chastain is in the role of Beverly Marsh, i wonder if i should change the text of my suggestion to ... if .. would ... ;) ... With an explanation, that Chastain will act Beverly Marsh. ;)

It's fine, except maybe this line can be removed:
"I see two major women who could take on the role as Beverly Marsh."

You could add Beverly Marsh here instead:
"There will be a second part of the horror-blockbuster It. By looking at the IMDb-site of the planned sequel It: Chapter Two, Jessica Chastain got the role as Beverly Marsh. I think Bryce Dallas Howard would also have been a good choice. Who do you think is more appropriate for the role?"

Oh, yeah! That's really much better. :D I changed it. Now that it is fix, that Jessica Chastain got the role. And there shouldn't come up the impression that the role would be still available. That's better. Thank you for this excellent help. This poll suggestion isn't any longer only my idea. ;) We all (commenters) worked on it.

Hallo, Jessica and fellows. :)
I stated the text more precisely to give people who don't know "It" from 2017 a chance to understand more about it. So I put some information in it that explains the point, why this question is interesting. What do you think about? I think somebody who doesn't know the movie maybe doesn't know why this question is interesting. Or is that too much information? If yes, i can cut it back to the text before. :D

I like it, just some corrections:

"There will be a second part of the horror-blockbuster It. The female teenage lead role was played by Sophia Lillis, and the planned sequel is set 27 years later.
By looking at the IMDb-site of the sequel It: Chapter Two, Jessica Chastain got the role as the adult Beverly Marsh. I think Bryce Dallas Howard would also have been a good choice. Who do you think is more appropriate for the role?"

"Special thanks to Jessica for her excellent help, and big thank you to Stephen Atwood, leavey-2, rubyfruit76 & Dan_Dassow for their help and suggestions. :D"

It's sweet of you, but there is no need to have my name in bold. :)

It's getting better and better. I think we will be soon at the point of no need to change the text. Now there is all said, what's urgent. And the text should not get too long. But if there are other objections, I sure have an open ear. ;) But for now, I will disbold your name. :D :D :D The explanation with the 27 years is really urgent. Good that you thought about it. I'm delighted. :)

"In the planned sequell her character has to be played by a mature woman."

Actually, I felt this line was not needed at all, since you already mention "27 years later" and "adult Beverly Marsh". That should be enough to know that the role will be played by an adult. :)

Also, typo:
...and the planned sequel is set 27 years later.

The new intro is excellent! Well-written, informative, and leads into the poll really well. I'm so glad you made this poll because good face-offs can sometimes be hard to find and make (and this one is great) and because I absolutely love that character. Oh no, I just realized that I somehow forgot to include her in two polls that I made recently that she would be perfect for. Both polls have 35 options, too, but one of the options in one of the polls has no votes so I think I'll remove her and add Beverly. :)

By the way, thank you and you're welcome for the "thank you' mention at the bottom of the intro, but I hardly did anything at all. Still, that was very thoughtful of you and it made me smile.

Don't underestimate your positive power. With two simple lines you motivated me to go on. I thought 'will this be turning out to be a good suggestion?', because I'm really a walking typo! ;)) Ok, I had the igniting idea, but Jessica always helped me excellent with the english formulation. It was a give and take situation. With her formulation, I had new ideas for the poll suggestion. And she had something to correct, wich gave even new points of view on the poll suggestion. I will short that words from now on to p.s.

Then Stephen came with the news about Jessica Chastain is in for "It". That changed my point of view on the p.s. another time in a mind-freeing way. From there on, there existed more consequent rules for the p.s. That was a chance for forming  the idea more exact. That was excellent teamwork. And a bunch of fun to work on. If it will be taken or not, I enjoyed the fun of learning better english phrases by doing something creative with other fans. ... by making a face-off together. :D :D :D I love it.

Not to forget Dan, who corrected the category and leavey-2 for the very good suggestion with the links I even didn't think of - that time. And of course the motivating words. Last week till today was a very happy time for me. :)

I'm so glad you had fun. It's fun for us too and it's great when we get an enthusiastic new poll author like yourself. I love creating polls with other people's feedback, too; it makes for better polls and, I agree, that it's a lot of fun.

I'm a writer and have been an English instructor since 2010 so if you ever have any questions about the crazy English language and grammar, syntax, etc., just let me know. And Jess and Peter and several others are great writers and editors, Dan knows everything about just about everything, lol, ElMo knows film backwards and forwards, Jen is great with suggestions and finding images... I could go on... it's a very talented group on here, and you've just added to it. :)

I'm highly honored. Let me know, when your p.s. is online, so maybe I can make a useful comment to it. :D

I hope this was the right formulation. My wife sometimes said to me (in german, of course) while posting on getsatisfaction.com: "Why are you so rude? You should rewrite that, because you could hurt somebody". ;)) Or "That's impolite. Change it". ;)
