Live Poll: Central Character of 'The Lord of the Rings'

Question: Would it be okay for some of us poll authors to re-create the character polls of other users that are no longer publishing polls? I wanted to re-create a few of Rafael_M's polls but I wouldn't know how to reach out to him and ask for permission (since he hasn't been making polls in quite a while, I figured it would be okay...) 

And now it's back to 999. 🤔

How is this possible? I saw it had 1000 votes yesterday, but now it's on 999. We cannot delete our votes on polls. 

Maybe some there was some error yesterday and the system counted 1000 votes, and it was actually 999? Or an error today?

I'm not sure, but I guess it's possible that if someone deleted their account, their votes would also be removed. But it's weird, I've seen it happen on some of my other polls as well. Maybe @dan_dassow​ knows.

Regardless, it will surely pass 1000 votes soon enough. I'm excited every time it happens, because only 48 of my 295 polls have more than 1000 votes. Although, it's actually 45 because I don't count the polls I remade - and this poll isn't even mine, but still. :)

Well... My original vote was for Frodo, but the fact Tolkien himslef stated that Sam was the true hero made me question my choice. Later, I changed it to Sam. Although, it depends on how someone interprets the word "central". If it means the one who is in focus, I'd say Frodo. But, if it means the real "hero" of the story, I'll say Sam. Therefore, my final vote is for Sam, but it is a really interesting and complex question. :)

@Jessica​   Scenario:  You vote for a poll and your vote is counted as vote #1000.  You rethink your choice and come back and decide to change your vote.  You click on "change my vote" and now there are 999 votes for that poll. You do not vote for anyone on the list because your favorite character wasn't listed as one of the options and the choices stay at 999 until someone else votes.

I think I also changed my vote, from Frodo (in Drevni's original poll) to Aragorn in this remake. That's what makes the poll so great, each character has a compelling case and you can interpret 'central' any way you want, as stated in the intro.

Well, even if you want to change your vote, the current vote still counts. It can't be removed.
