Fake Ratings by bots

I have been observing this since many movies and fake ratings by bots increasing. In all the last three movies by one of the biggest movie producer genre Yash Raj Films they are using massive more than 10k fake ratings and I am super surprised everytime that no one is doing anything on IMDB. You guys dont notice it at all or that studio is paying money directly to u? Samshera movie is on the verge of becoming great flop locally and getting more than 17k 9 ratings in 2 days? Movie is hardly doing business as expected in india and weekend had heavily raining all over as well. I guess this is happening again and again, no one actually cares, I wish to start showing proof on social media but though to post here once before posting on social media. We are on the verge of loosing faith on IMDB. Good luck

Dear Team,

I have been using this site since years to find various reasons and observing your rating system as well. I have observed few films were not so successful and ratings were drastically increased by giving 9/10 using bots. I am sure about it but you guys can better check it. Few movies name are Samrat Prithviraj, Bachchhan Paandey, Heropanti 2 etc. I know there are more but these giant movie productions are manipulating ratings with money which is affecting our trust on this website. I am not sure if anyone is going to look out this issue or not but just some genuine observation from an old user of this website.

Noticed three days ago that Lightyear (2022) already got over 1000 1/10 ratings (days before its Thursday night preview screening). This is clearly a case of a concerted effort to take the film on IMDb.

I mean afterall, the film has an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Something smells dead fishy here.

Is there any way to stop first weekend reviews?
It hurts movie theaters significantly
when a movie like Lightyear is being review bombed because...

... I'm the Manager of my local movie theater
and it pains me to see a movie as amazing as Lightyear be trashed...

I am writing to suggest an idea of limiting rating and reviewing of motion picture on your app.
I know that you support the freedom of speech
and want to have many ratings and reviews on your app
but there are tons of movies and shows
that are just underrated or rarely overrated....

That is why i have come up with a solution.
Instead of giving everyone the free will to rate and review anything they want,
every user would have to fill out a survey
in which they would have to name, review and rate 2-5 movies or tv shows
before they get the allowance to post any review for any movies on your app....

@Michelle Happening again with new movie from same production house. I guess that production house if paying you guys directly to get those fake high ratings on locally flopped movies? check this. We are loosing faith in IMDB.

@Michelle Any update on this case? Look at the numbers of votes now, approx. 34k 9/10 ratings on Flop movie? Seriously? We have a gem of movies out there which are outstanding but suffers less ratings from people and here we are, IMDB sold to bots now.

Same is the case with Shabaash Mithu: Shabaash Mithu (2022) - IMDb

The rating was under 4 a week back with 500 votes and suddenly the paid bots (all rated 10) with 4.5k votes made it 7.4, how? The movie made less than 2 cr INR at the box office. Apparently, 4k people did not even watch it lol

@Michelle come on, please have a look at this one. I am stunned by the audacity of these fake rating bots. IMDB will become another mediocre garbage if these marketing people/Fake bots/fake actors are allowed to do this:

@Bethanny How it is resolved? We dont see any ratings removed from such movies. There are 10/10 in thousands for flop movies. Dont just close it. We dont turst IMDB now. There was a time when we used to check reviews of IMDB to decide whether to go for a movie or not. Now we cant do that as flop films are having 10/10 by thousands bots. lol. Good luck with that
