Sorry, maybe I'm being a bit nitpicky, but I'd recommend considering a change to the first picture. Given that it's a still from the film, it features those two black bars, and the image stands out as the only one framed that way in your list. Besides, since the focus is on the actress being snubbed , it might be more fitting to choose a picture of her out of character. Just throwing in my two cents!
Also, while I agree that Gerwig's snub deserves to be mentioned, I disagree with the reason "after helming the most successful film ever from a female director". I mean directing a successful blockbuster has never guaranteed an Oscar nomination and maybe the Academy figured that besides her undeniable skills, there were many factors that contributed to the success of "Barbie" such as marketing, star power (Robbie, Gosling), a powerhouse brand, budget, and a good summer release. These factors have not much to do with directing...
... not that she needs an Oscar nod to prove anything at that point. :)
@ElMaruecan82 I used that image because it showed Barbie crying so it is meant to show the character as if it was sad at the news.
Personally, I agree with you on Greta work being most important than simply helming a blockbuster, I just felt it could be a compelling reason for most voters.
I figured the reason why you picked that picture, I'm pretty sure you can find images with similar expressions but without the letterbox format... sorry, I'm a kind of a nitpick when it comes to this, don't pay too much attention to it :)
For Gerwig, I would have just said "Greta Gerwig being overlooked despite being a strong contender for the award ever since the release of the film"
I was surprised by several of these and right now I'm probably torn the most between no nomination for Gerwig and no noms for Past Lives' cast and director.
FYC: No nominations for 'All of Us Strangers,' despite wide critical acclaim, a lot of Oscar buzz, and a strong showing (Best Film, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, etc.) in the Academy's shortlist.
Is there a short list on all those categories? As far as I knew only a handful of categories like Documentary, Song, Make Up and International Film had that system, and the rest is completely open to all eligible films.
#19 rewrite: Disney's 100th years anniversary short Once Upon a Studio (2023) out of contention in Best Animated Short, despite being an early favorite for the award.
