Live Poll: Find Carmen Now! (Image List)

The list page: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls080828537/
Live Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/ptFUsNetrog/?mode=desktop&ref_=m_ft_dsk

The world famous computer game, television show and animated show, thief, Carmen Sandiego is at it again! It is up to you, intrepid detectives, must do two things. 1) (for fun) figure out where she is and 2) of which of these following crimes she most likely will commit! All we got for clues are these vague rumors and image references to movies. Some think that this a diabolical plot to trick people to interact with the IMDB to read the movie summaries for clue to figure out where Carmen is. Parish the thought! No one is that devious. (Yes, I am.) Which crime is Carmen most likely to pull?

In case you have heard any other rumors about where she is, report them here. (You have to go here for the answers too. Just make sure to report rumors with lots of clues, location of the crime, and an object to be stolen. Also, the stolen object must be so silly and outlandish that it can’t be possibly stolen in real life, like the smile off the Mona Lisa‘s face, so therefore we are not encouraging a real life crime. (It is called being socially responsible.)

I going to limit the options down to about 15 to 25 to make it easier on the guys at the IMDB to post this as a poll.

The answer to my first seven:

1 - Acme Crimenet Chief’s Office. It is on the door.
2 - Pamplona, Spain
3 - New York City, New York, USA. Ed your post on this thread inspired this option - https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...

“ Where is Carmen?

Answer....
Home Alone
Having Breakfast at Tiffany's
At The Last Picture Show
Visiting The Last House on the Left
Trying to Escape from New York”

I bet you didn’t know Tiffany’s had a restaurant. Nether did I until I did some research. You learn something everyday. Thanks.

4 - The Bastille, Paris, France
5 - the diamonds on the satellite, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
6 - Sienna, Italy
7 - Rome, Italy (an easy one)

8 - London, England, of the United Kingdom
9 - Radiator Springs
10 - Hannibal, Missouri
11 - Seville, Spain
12 - Liberal, Kansas
13 - Around the World (in 80 days), Paris, France

14 - The Collector’s Museum.

15 - San Fernando, and Ralphie’s Decoder Ring from A Christmas Story (1983)

dgranger,

Shouldn't that be:
1 - Acme Crimenet Chief’s Office. It is on the door.

Acne is a skin condition. Acme is a company featured in Looney Tunes cartoons.

dgranger,

Please change the title of your list from:

Ok, but I had first started a title list with that before deciding a image list would be better.

Done. And thanks. I spotted an error in the first option that needed correcting.

@dan_dassow Dan, I had just discovered a new reason why I like this new format. I can update the original post with the answers on it and delete all the other later updates (except 1 because you replied to that one). That will save space!

@dgranger,

However, it does help to keep suggestions and responses as a audit trail of how the poll has developed.

Maybe she would like to stole the original Whistler's Mother that decorates Mr. Bean apartment?

Added. I take it she is in Los Angeles? I need the story here. I take it she is not stealing a ruined “Whistler’s Mother” but an original Mr. Bean?

I'm not so good at making up stories. But the portrait would be an original Mr. Bean, which, at the end of the movie ends up at hi apartment in London.

Maybe she tried to steal the portrait at the Art Gallery in Los Angeles, only to discover it was a poster, and then she traced the original art back to Mr. Bean's apartment. In the robbery she could also take the Teddy Bear that was guarding it?

Just updated it. It is a little long. How do you like it?
I had just learned something new about “Love Actually “ a great adult Christmas film, tonight . I didn’t know Rufus was supposed to be a Christmas angel. That explains why he (Rowen Atkinson) was at the airport and he turns to the audience to give a little smirk and wink.

Looks great. A fantastic work including many Rowan Atkinson characters.

I hope you get more suggestions soon, this is a very good and creative idea.

This is really funny. #4 is especially hilarious ("stealing the smile off of Mona Lisa's face" is classic) and would get my vote. LOL and bravo!

I'm going to let this sit in my mind awhile so maybe I'll come up with a suggestion or two, although I doubt that they'd be as funny as the ones you have so far. : )

I'm not familiar with Carmen Sandiego, but maybe she would like to go to Seville, Spain like her namesake from the opera?

Perhaps her crime is a crime of passion. Feel free to adapt this idea.

Wait a moment. There is another opera other than “Carmen” that uses Seville. Can she pull a double crime? Can she steel a certain barber’s chair and commit a crime of passion too?

Another rumour I heard, Apparently Dorothy was looking for her ruby slippers in Kansas to take them back to Oz, but she could not find them. Carmen SanDiego was reported in the state.

Also, in France the Gnome of Amelie's father is missing, but this time he did not went on a trip, and has not been sending postcards. Id Carmen took kim they can be anywhere in the world.

Pencho, you are going to love this twist. There IS a town in Kansas you can used for The Wizard of Oz. It is Liberal, Kansas. While the outside scream tourist trap, the inside looks pretty good and they do have the model of the house used in the film in the twister segment. And oh, the people who play Dorothy, when they retire, they have there names inscribed in the Yellow Brick Road and have their ruby slippers retired too. Here are pictures of the statues mentioned in the clue:

dgranger,

For your consideration, Carmen SanDiego stole the gnome from Amélie while the gnome was traveling on vacation.

"I going to limit the options down to about 15 to 25 to make it easier on the guys at the IMDB to post this as a poll."

I would remove this line as it isn't really necessary.

And please correct:
It is up to you, intrepid detectives, to do two things.

As you know, I love this poll. I think I'm still leaning toward voting for the smile off of Mona Lisa's face but if that gets a ton of votes, I could easily vote for others. There are so many good choices.

The intro is also really funny, which doesn't surprise me because you're always so good at coming up with those witty versions of "discuss here," lol. May I suggest just a few edits to the intro, though? 'Just small things like adding a comma because I'm such a punctuation nerd. (Suggested edits are below in bold.)

I'm sorry if these are not what you're looking for, I'm not sure if I understand your poll, but here it goes.

FYC:

1. Carmen stole the infinity stones from Steve Rogers (Captain America) while Steve went to return those stones. Steve lied about how he got old; he did not spend the rest of his life with Peggy. He was searching for Carmen all his life but couldn't find her. Eventually, Steve accepted his defeat and gave up his shield.

2. As soon as Jules and Vincent exit the restaurant, Carmen stole the briefcase from them. ('Pulp Fiction' alternate ending)

3. Do you know why they never showed what was in the box at the end of 'Se7en'? Because there was nothing in the box. Carmen stole it from the delivery guy.

I've got a few more suggestions but I want to see if I'm going on the right track. Also, sorry for not providing any images.

I will add 1 and 2. But SeVen” no because it does mention what is in the box. Cutting people’s heads off is a little too close to real. I can name a few movies where that happens and where a chopped off head is used. That is why I rejected my own idea of using “The Mask of Zoro”. The brother’s head is in a jar on Captain Love’s desk.

In fact, Captain Henry Love, Joaquin Murrieta, and Three Finger Jack were real. historical figures used in a fictional story. Love did do that to two people he caught. Cut off their heads, put them in a jar of brandy, and set them out on display. I won’t use that for this poll or “Seven” either.

BonaFideBOSS, just put a variation of your Captain American suggestion and added a place on to the list. I had just remembered who was the true owner of the Soul Stone in the comics and who ripped the Gauntlet off of Thanos’s arm at the end of the 1st infinity gauntlet series. Adam Warlock. Do you like the changes?

3.4K Messages

BonaFideBOSS, I finally figured how to fit Pulp fiction into the list. The briefcase can’t simply disappear because it was seen at the beginning of the film that Vincent and Jules returning the case to Marcellus. Therefore, since Quentin Tarantino’s movies don take place in a Linear A to b to c timeline fashion, the ending of the hitman’s story takes place before the beginning of the boxer’s story. Thus forming a ring. A Ring? That gave me an idea! But I just couldn’t take just any ring and the master ring of the Lord of the Rings would have been just too clique. So I though of the most silliest one. And obviously Carmen would have curious just what Wallace’s most prized possession was.
