I'm torn between George Bernard Shaw and John Steinbeck.

I hoped that Interstellar (2014) would have been nominated for Best Picture, since the film is based on a concept by Kip Thorne, one of my favorite living physicists. At least Interstellar received the 2015 Academy Award for:

A longtime friend and colleague of Stephen Hawking and Carl Sagan, he was the Richard P. Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) until 2009[3] and is one of the world's leading experts on the astrophysical implications of Einstein's general theory of relativity. He continues to do scientific research and scientific consulting, most notably for the Christopher Nolan film Interstellar.[4][5] Thorne was awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics along with Rainer Weiss and Barry C. Barish "for decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves".[6][7][8][9]

@dan_dassow I was trying to figure out if there were Nobel Prize winners (other than literature) who may have gotten Academy recognition (most likely through the documentary arena). No such luck. I even checked to see if Barack Obama would have had a documentary nomination (being a producer of documentaries) while being a Nobel Prize for Peace winner. He and Michelle Obama did create Higher Ground Productions, the production company for American Factory (2019). Nope there.

@Tsarstepan I was thinking the same about American Factory (2019), even though it won, neither Obama was one of three named nominees. I thought Al Gore might have made the list for his Nobel Peace Prize and An Inconventient Truth (2006). But, the documentary Oscar was limited to the director. I would think the Nobel prize is the harder of the double to accomplish.
