Well, there is also the Jumanji saga, whereby she portrayed the same playable Jumanji-redux character in Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level, the two installments thus far in the soft reboot franchise of the original movie and its cartoon spin-off.
The character portrayed by Karen Gillan's in the Jumanji sequels is Ruby Roundhouse, not so much Martha exactly. Each playable character is something of a mere avatar (having role-playing game stats) that can be inhabited by different out-of-game characters, one at a time, at separate times. Given the way the game works, none of the playable characters has ever functioned as an non-playable character, many of whom behave according to a simple script rather than a sophisticated algorithm or magical embodiment of a sapient being. The movies don't really delve much into the lore, but audiences could rightly be suspicious that Van Pelt is inhabited by some kind of deity (perhaps one of multiple such) that has always been trapped inside the Jumanji kit.
Unfortunately, I don't understand your explanation of you reasoning, Gabriel Fox, I mean, this is about the actors, and Karen Gillan portrays the image of Ruby Roundhouse. Whereas Morgan Turner portrays Martha. Both performers and both characters are in two movies belonging to the same fictional universe. But okay. I'm just surprised that you had already contemplated this in the original process of making the list and considered the circumstances across the two movies to be a disqualification. Interesting. I do understand why the makers of the movie decided to credit the on-screen performers the way they have, so that the audience would be able to make a quick reference as to which game avatar corresponds to which game player.
I kind of understand, but it really sort of boils down to the definition of the word "character" as it pertains to story elements, since the definition of the word "saga" is contingent upon that. In a way, Ruby Roundhouse (likewise with Smolde Bravestone, Mouse Finbar, Shelly Oberon and Seaplane McDonough) doesn't actually exist within the fictional universe of the Jumanji movies, so she cannot possibly be her own actual character, based upon what the franchise has revealed thus far, as the avatar cannot be rendered into the game absent a player to inhabit it, despite having unique "stats" and even apparently something of a biography. The existence of those character stats really does sort of obfuscate the matter, especially considering that these are life-action portrayals rather than cartoons.
I agree with your reasoning, however if you were right Karen's character would be defined on IMDb as an "AVATAR", which would imply what you are saying. But it is not like that, she has the name of a certain character.
IMDb has no concept of avatars, and there is just barely even a concept of characters. IMDb is simply situated to list performers as they credited in the actual movie, even if they don't appear on screen or merely appear in photographs displayed within the setting of a movie, if at all. There is nevertheless IMDb's quotes system, which is very much character-oriented.
I think you should list the Martha Kaply character with her Jumanji avatar, Ruby Roundhouse in parathenses. That way you are saying it is a single character and acknowledging the alter ego exists, and not claiming it is seperate persona. It is a statement of fact, rather than taking a position
.
Martha Kaply (Jumanji Avatar: Ruby Roundhouse)
You might want to add either specifically (itemized) or generally ("various shorts and videos") these three characters
Nebula, Amy Pond and
Martha Kaply appear in too, in addition to the feature films and TV movie appearances. Here is a small sampling,
