By the way, I was inspired to create this poll after seeing Duck and Cover (1952) on TCM on Saturday. They showed this classic Civil Defense film just before Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. I vaguely remember seeing Duck and Cover in grade school during the height of the cold war concern regarding nuclear annihilation.

I was struck by the quirky collection of instructional media on IMDb. I was not surprised by the low number of votes.

Another U.S. government issued Federal Civil Defense Administration instructional video from the era was the B&W six minute The House In The Middle (1953). It stressed that good housekeeping and clean yards were the best deterrents to fires ignited by an atomic bomb. It was so educational, the National Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Association sponsored a colorized 13 minute version that was released to audiences in 1954.

Plus, 'Tell Your Children' aka Reefer Madness might be worthy of inclusion too.

With 68 votes, the margin of error is ±11.884% for this poll. So, The Joy of Painting (1983) is statistically more popular than the other choices at a 95% confidence level. The remaining choices are indistinguishable within the margin of error.

This is with the caveat that all of the poll are self selection polls. Since the participants in the polls are not randomly selected, the results may not be representative of the population as a whole.
