It's kind of inaccurate to state that all of these characters are named Max. While it is a given name, it is also used as a nickname for Maxine, Maxwell etc.
And some of these characters don't really use Max as a nickname either, for instance Maximus Decimus Meridius.
You should perhaps rephrase the question somehow.
Maybe:
These movie and television characters are named Max or have names that start with Max. Which character is your favorite?
I agree this could be alright with modified question that specifies it includes names for which Max can be a nickname and some tweaks to how the answer pool is presented. I might suggest using the phrase "derives from" instead of "starts with", but both are okay.

FYC, maybe bolding the Max portions in the answer pool would be better to tie it all together.
