I couldn't agree more, there hasn't been a decent comedy in nearly 20 years! If movies like Airplane, Naked Gun, Arthur(not that bloody awful remake), or anything by Mel Brooks are so well liked, why can't they write anything even close to them today? Are we all doomed to laughless future because of political correctness? I look at modern comedies, and the jokes are little more than snarky retorts, "Oh no he/she didn't" moments, or some buffoon falling over, rather than smart, observant writing. Give me Mel Brooks's take on WW2, "Springtime for Hitler" over a fart joke that gets dragged out to the 2 minute mark any day. And for the love of God, get rid of laugh tracks. If you need a laugh track, it's because your jokes aren't funny enough.
