LIVE POLL: 2034 World Cup?

The 2034 World Cup will be hosted by the state of Saudi Arabia. The country was the sole bidder for that year's tournament.

What would make for a better alternative country for the 2034 FIFA World Cup ?

To be honest, this is one of my most ... political posts. I don't expect it to be published. Just a lark of a suggestion.

The Upside Down, that way the sport can reach all places in our planet and hopefully help as a tool of understanding between both cultures.

@Breumaster Changed it to inside of the Moon because of how bad/cheesy Moonfall supposedly is.

@Tsarstepan

What about North Korea?

I think your idea is very satirical. Why shouldn't IMDb make some fun on the FIFA, they should be good enough to take some critic's views on it. Else they only would reveal how unhumorous they are. Ok, it's not neutral state, yes. But satire is a kind of art, which shouldn't be taken too seriously. Your idea provides fun, I guess even for soccer fans.

@Breumaster It's intended to be satirical. I'll look into adding North Korea via that Seth Rogen Interview film.

Location? As long as Caesar Flickerman is the host or one of the hosts, I'm cool.

Came across this meme today on Facebook. I will add it to the list. Thank you dear anonymous meme creator. Whoever and wherever you are. Unless you're an AI meme generator. Then I take back my thanks. AI meme generators taking away jobs from human meme creators! Da nerve!

Here are a few:

The planet Mesklin from the novel Mission of Gravity by Hal Clement.  The gravity on this science fiction novel varies from 3g at the equator to 700g at the poles.  Yes, only other science fiction nerds would recognize this one.

Play it in the Battle Room (no gravity at all) in Battle School on the space station in Ender's Game (a novel by Orson Scott Card that was made into a film a few years ago).

Play it in Wonderland.  Instead of someone getting a red card, the Queen of Hearts orders that the penalty is "off with his head!"  Yes, the Wonderland that Alice visits by Lewis Carroll.  There are two novels (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass)and multiple film versions of this.

Use a time machine and play it in France during World War I.  Do it in the No Man's Land of the famous Maginot Line, where no one dared walk or run without fear of being shot from one of the trenches along each side of the line.  This land was also mined from time to time and was occasionally filled with mustard gas and other poisonous gasses.

@Tsarstepan

Please correct:

The 2034 World Cup will be hosted by the authoritarian state of Saudi Arabia. The country was the sole bidder for that year's tournament.

What would make for a better alternative country for the 2034 FIFA World Cup?

@Tsarstepan ,

I fully realize that this is a satirical poll. However, the phrase "authoritarian state of Saudi Arabia" may test the limits of what we should write in a live poll. Maybe "state of Saudi Arabia" would be better.

@dan_dassow I figure that might be the case. So, I'm down with changing the phrasing of the text.

I always wondered the same thing about this poll suggestion, Dan Dassow, but I wasn't sure that the word "authoritarian", as a noun or adjective, is inherently demeaning, yet there was still the matter of factual accuracy, also things like fairness and consistency. If the Saudi supreme law of the Saudi lands doesn't regard the Saudi sovereign government as authoritarian by any stretch of the word, then it might indeed be problematic to simultaneously lay that label upon it and continue doing business with institutions (municipalities, corporations, charities etc.) based out of Saudi Arabia. The same awkward tradeoff (jam), so to speak, exists with several other nations (e.g. the People's Republic of China) as well, to the point that corporations based in the Western bloc can only really comfortably label in the most unflattering ways the nations that already have embargoes placed against them by enough of the governments of the Western bloc nations.
