American Graffiti's 115 millions is almost unbelievable. Unadjusted for inflation, the film made more money with its re-released than with its original release.

Maxence: That's probably an error. I suspect that someone at Boxofficemojo had meant to indicate that American Graffiti earned $557,835 in 2023 added to $115 million from prior releases, for a total of $115,557,835, but instead erroneously added the $115 million again to the 2023 release.

I don't believe they actually received reports of the film earning $115 million in 2023, even worldwide.

@gromit82 In my country it's also not shown, from this list only Titanic is in theaters around me this year. It is possible that American Graffiti re-released domestically, like the US.

Incidentally, the nominal gross amount is similar to the original release, which is $115 million. But the overall nominal when it was shown in theaters is $230,558,724 until now. Here

@khadafimahfud8 That's my point. I think Box Office Mojo mistakenly double-counted the original $115 million.

I am 100% sure that American Graffiti didn't earn anywhere close to $115,557,835 in U.S. theaters in 2023.
