1) Glass (2019)
2) Unbreakable (2000)
3) Donnie Darko (2001)
4) Split (2016)
5) Drive (2011)
Honorable mentions: (5 is not enough for me in this particular genre, to be honest)
Scanners (1981)
The Gladiator (1986)
Highlander (1986)
RoboCop (1987)
Batman (1989)
The Punisher (1989)
Darkman (1990)
Prizrak (1991)
Lunatics: A Love Story (1991)
Batman Returns (1992)
The Shadow (1994)
The Crow (1994)
Batman Begins (2005)
Hobo With a Shotgun (2011)
Joker (2019)
Movies, I haven't seen in entirety yet, but have a strong suspicion I'll love:
Akira (1988)
Nightbreed (1990)
Mystery Men (1999) (Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot comics are some of the best ever; movie only uses certain small portions, not even the main character, but since it's written by Burden himself, i'm trusting that core ideas are there)
Koroshiya 1 (2001) (aka Ichi the Killer; I love the original manga and Takashi Miike is one of my favorite directors)
Artik (2019)
Musings:
-It feels a bit of a cheat to include whole Eastrail trilogy in the Top, but heck, it's the best superhero trilogy we have that was not based on pre-existing material and yet had that much respect and ground in the genre. All three movies tell the story of a superhero events in unexpected, uncharacteristic ways, closer to real life and therefore hitting all the more harder.
-Joker (2019) is great and I love that a movie with these sensibilities and approach got greenlit and got impressively succesful, despite at the core still having questions and approaches from genre. But. It's a tad, a modicum less of a personal touch for me that Glass (2019) is. I've seen both of them twice in theaters, something I seldom did before 2019 and, when cinemas hopefully reopen normally, something I'd love to do with movies I loved enough the first time around.
-I'm including Drive (2011) there because yes, it is confirmed by director Nicholas Winding Refn that this one is his take on that genre and formula. A great one, in my opinion, and having some of the best subtle touches here and there. I'm also including Donnie Darko (2001) which has another (less) subtle hint at the genre, suggesting that a) at the core of it is that amazing notion that if you pick random human being, that seems flawed in more ways than one and present this being with an option to change the world for better at cost of one's own happiness and recognition, you might be surprised and not always in a negative way; and b) in real life we will mistrust the figures like that and will consider them mentally ill until it is too late.

1. Avengers Endgame - I laughed, I cried, I saw it at midnight and then went again the next day.
2. Dark Knight Rises - I am very bored of the Joker, so I much prefer DKR to TDK. Also I love the "hero returns after retiring" trope.
3. Spider-Verse - my favourite part is Spider-Man Noir is obsessed with a Rubik's Cube.
4. Spider-Man Homecoming - Spidey is my favourite superhero and this is my favourite Spidey movie.
5. Winter Soldier - the template for the best MCU movies, Chris Evans *is* Steve Rogers and this movie is so so rewatchable.
