Live Poll: Highest Rated Films by IMDb Poll Board Contributors

This poll is based on the rating histories of the 120 most active participants on the IMDb Poll Board during 2017. For a film to make this list it must be rated by at least 60 people. Which of these films is your favorite?

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls044438721/
Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/Omo8DyLUqJs/

This is a summary of the ratings of 22,307 films from these 120 active participants: Ratings_Summary

= = =

My concept is to export the ratings for all the IMDb Poll Board and IMDb GS Poll Board contributors with public ratings. I would average the ratings and find the 35 top rated films for the contributors and create a poll.

As you may notice, I have not provided a list. Since this may be a fair amount of effort, I would like some feedback on whether thiswould make an interesting poll before I create the list.

Due to privacy concerns, I will not identify whois included in the poll. Likewise, I will not use anyone’s ratings list if theyprefer that I do not use it.

Toy Story 3 or BTTF... you have Fellowship of the Ring 3 times, also.  :)

I was hoping for a few surprises in the list, but it's kind of the same as the Top 250. My vote: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Hoekkie,

I was hoping for a few surprises in the list, but it's kind of the same as the Top 250.
I came to the same conclusion after I had 120 board members tabulated.

Ed,
Word it so that movies in IMDb's Top 1000 are exempt.
I would rather not. What you suggest would take a significant amount of effort; it would also violate the original concept of the poll.

That brings me to the idea to create an IMDb Poll Board Poll with favorite movies not seen in the Top 250. Is there a way to check if a movie was in the 250?

Just a silly thought: Hoekkie just mentioned maybe starting a poll sugg - as we've been saying, GS has a glitch that we have trouble clicking on (mostly newer) pages.  Could one of you post a link to your GS poll sugg on here, like in a comment, and we can see if maybe going through it in a 'back way' works?
Sorry, but I'm really getting impatient with this glitch.  :/

Thanks Dan! I was looking for that top250.info page. I think this would be a great poll. I will create the suggestion. Maybe we can make a connection between the 2 polls? I don’t know how. Maybe add a link when both polls are live.... But it will take a time when I have enough contributions, so I don’t know if it will work. If you have ideas, I like to hear them

@Dan, I created the poll suggestion.

Please let me know if you have any ideas or if you want to change or improve something about my suggestion or description.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is listed three times. I assume it should be The Return of the King at #4 and The Two Towers at #9.

Typo:
This poll is based on the rating histories ...

That is a lot of work!!

I only see 3 ways to do this:

1: A lot of patience.

2: Use an already scripted webscraper

3: Be pretty decent at HTML code.

cinephile,

At one time it was possible to easily export the ratings of other IMDb users. Currently, it is only possible to export your own ratings.

1. I exported the ratings of all the IMDb poll authors and regular poster to the IMDb Poll message board.

2. I combined the results of the downloaded CVS files into multiple Excel files with approximately 20 users per Excel file.

3. I created a column in each Excel file that concatenated the title ID and title. This ensured that films with the same title could be differentiated.

4. I pivot table report that summarized the average rating for users in each Excel files.

5. I combined the pivot table reports into a single Excel file. Combined the results and sorted in descending order.

Yes, this took a lot of patience.
