Dolphins and whales are mammals, so you should probably change the title if you want to include them.

@Jessica & @mariojacobs  I agree the poll suggestion is unnecessarily confusing, but I think dropping the introduction is the solution here. I like mario's title for the most part.

I think aquatic is perfect for the poll scope, I think Mario is going for here.  It covers everything from plants (Sponge Bob), to crustaceans, to fish (Dory), to mammals (Flipper) to men (Aquaman) and beyond.

I think the introduction should be dropped though, while interesting, it really just clouds the discussion, since it serve no purpose toward answering the asked question. In fact, it is counterproductive, because it makes me think one of listed categories is being excluded.
Plus, the question should be revised or tweaked, "Who" is used to refer to people and I think "is your favorite" works better at the end, but it is a matter of preference. Also, since the list is not a complete listing, you should cover yourself, if the poll taker wants to choose an option you have not listed, it is a good idea to indicate that the poll's scope is a limited selection by using the "of these" phrase.
Who is your favorite aquatic character?

Which of these aquatic characters is your favorite?

I am forced to disagree with you: I think the short intro text is very interesting for me and may be quite interesting and surprising for someone else:

Dolphins and whales are not fish!!!!!

>Which of these aquatic characters is your favorite?

I think that was originally the question. I also thought about the who/which dilemma and now I agree that WHO is the better option, since all of these characters have a proper NAME.

>SpongeBob SquarePants, Eugene Harold Krabs, Patrick Star, Gene Scallop are some good aquatic characters to ensure your aquatic poll is inclusive to all types of creatures across a range of species.

Thank you for your suggestion, for this particular set of pictures, I may add to the question:

Who is your favorite aquatic character WITH TAIL/CAUDAL FIN?

@mariojacobs, I am not sure which one (who vs. which) is right now, but using who for a non-person with a proper name seems reasonable to me. I would follow what the rule is for proper usage though, whatever that may be.

@mariojacobs Fyc, SpongeBob SquarePants, Eugene Harold Krabs, Patrick Star, Gene Scallop are some good aquatic characters to ensure your aquatic poll is inclusive to all types of creatures across a range of species.

@riverotter@Pencho15 thank you for your suggestions. I am not sure about The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Nemo

For me it is implicit, but perhaps I should add to the question the predicate

Who is your favorite aquatic character [that looks like a fish... or has a caudal fin]?

The image for Nemo is actually his father.

This is Nemo:

I have a fond memory of a movie about a girl who played a flute to communicate with an orca/whale. In one of the scenes, her sense of hearing is tested, and she is able to hear more than an average person - does anyone happen to remember the title?
