Live Poll: Celebrating Stan Lee's 100th Birthday

Intro:

December 28, 2022 marks what would have been Stan Lee's 100th birthday. Lee created many of the world's most popular comic book characters, like Captain America and Spider-Man. He also co-founded Marvel Comics (the Marvel brand, established in 1961), a Top 10 worldwide multi-media entertainment franchise by lifetime gross. Marvel Comics was a successor of Timely Comics that was founded by Martin Goodman in 1939 and later known as Atlas Comics. Other co-founders of the Marvel brand were Jack Kirbi and Steve Ditko.

Fans will best remember him for his comedic cameos that appeared in nearly every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Sadly, the man born as Stanley Martin Lieber passed on November 12, 2018, but his legacy lives on as part of the stable of franchises owned by The Walt Disney Company.

Which of these MCU superheroes' alter egos has the more interesting identity in "normal" life?

Maybe I'm clicking on the wrong link, but I don't see their real life identities listed.  For clarification, are you referring to their occupations?  For example, Clark Kent/Superman was a newspaper reporter.

What should I list? real MCU-fans know about the real life of the characters. Just some people who don't like Marvel usually don't know about it. Clark Kent/Superman would be the same about the Warner driven DCEU.

I know that  Superman was the other company.  I just used him as an example.

You could say that Bruce Banner/Hulk was a scientist and that Peter Parker/Spiderman was a student.  I don't know a lot about the othersas I generally avoid superhero movies unless I have to take a grandchild.

An example for what? My suggestion isn't about "overseas". The whole idea is made in USA. When you generally avoid superhero movies, why do you take interest in this poll idea?

This is not about occupations, just about the characters.

@Breumaster It's your introduction. I just added one sentence, changed the flow a bit and couple of the word choices.

Great done. I try to take an example of the changes. I know I learn slow, but what I've really internalized takes place over times. If I had to do it in German language, I'd have done much better. I'm still learning to be exact in English, but the exactness of English and German is the most tempting for me at the moment. Thank you for being helpful. :D

@Breumaster I am not a great writer, but I can understand. English is tricky and illogical at times. I do like being specific and clear in my writing, which I think is a strength. I find using the right words can make a huge difference. It is a skill that takes awhile to acquire and a lot of practice.

FYC, another tweak.

"Alter egos" is a very good description (or similie) which I didn't think of in that relation, but it does fit perfectly. I'll take it. Thank you. :D

@Breumaster ,

Stan Lee is one of the founders of Marvel brand.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Comics

Marvel was started in 1939 by Martin Goodman as Timely Comics,[3] and by 1951 had generally become known as Atlas Comics. The Marvel era began in 1961, the year that the company launched The Fantastic Four and other superhero titles created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and many others. The Marvel brand, which had been used over the years, was solidified as the company's primary brand.

@Breumaster ,

This looks good. However, I recommend that you split this very long sentence:

He also co-founded Marvel Comics (the Marvel brand, established in 1961), a Top 10 worldwide multi-media entertainment franchise by lifetime gross, which was a successor of Timely Comics, that was founded by Martin Goodman in 1939 and later known as Atlas Comics.

... into two sentences. Also, I recommend that you remove the comma before the word "that."

If there are no more suggestions or corrections, I declare it as ready to go!

(Still open for more alter-ego superheroes of the MCU.

If I forgot important superhero characters, please tell me.)

Not all of these characters were created by Stan Lee.

Altought you don't claim he did, I was just checking this is allright with you.

Any reason for not adding more characters?

Hi, Pencho. :D

It's ok that not all of these characters are created by Stan Lee. He was one of the founders and is the figurehead of Marvel's MCU. He appeared in all movies of Marvel, until he died. So he also stands for them all in all by perception of the audience. These are only the characters with alter ego. If you have more alter egos, which are widely interesting, please tell me. I only concentrated on the most interesting, but might have forgot some. You may help me then. Maybe the main character of Shang Chi? I automatically thought on him by your post. ;)

Added all, but Hawkeye. I don't think Kate Bishop has a secret identity in the TV-series by now. What do you think about? Thank you for the image of Wanda. Very good! :D

P.S.: Bucky was a villain, wasn't he? He just was a hero in Endgame. Added him.

@Breumaster ,

The Poll Admin tool indicates that your introduction is too long. Unfortunately, all of the characters are considered from formatting tags are considered:

I've saved the current introduction here:

Because I guess nearly everyone knows about Spider-Man and Captain America, I also shortened these character name links. It's too late now. It should have been on December 28th. If you want, you can still release it.

@Breumaster ,

I was able to push your poll after you made the edits. Although the poll went live later than I intended, it still went live by 28-December-2022 1:30 pm Berlin time (12:30 pm GMT).

Unfortunately, only the original author can see the mark up tags for the description field for a list, so the poll admins are not always aware that there may be a problem prior to trying to push a poll.

A small typo I just noticed. #18 should be Marc Spector rather than Marc Specter.
