A lot of good options. I haven't seen all of them, but if I had to choose one it would be T2: Judgement Day. It elevated the franchise into a whole new dimension, and is still one of the best action movies ever made. Which tells you something about a movie that was made 26 years ago.

What is 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' a sequel to?

I’m kind of surprised that dark knight is leading the race. It’s a pretty damn good sequel to a pretty okay original. Where as the original Godfather is a masterpiece, usually in the top three of any and every greatest movies of all time list. Yet lots of people consider The Godfather 2 to be even better than the original.

Saddened to see Back to the Future II omitted from the list as it is the best film ever to be produced.
