How do I know if my poll has been rejected?

Hello
How do I know if my poll has been rejected?
For example, if two days pass and my poll is not selected, does it mean rejection?
Thankful

No, your poll is not rejected if it has not been used in in two days. Typically, it takes around a few days for a poll to go live if it timely, such as a poll celebrating a well known person's milestone birthday or an In Memoriam polls. It generally takes longer if the poll is not timely.

There are polls that have taken more than five (5) years to go live.

OMG 5 years?

So there's no exact way to tell if poll been rejected, right?

I don't know, for example you comment: Your post was rejected

Somebody might volunteer to notify others that a poll is not suitable and why, but explicit rejection isn't too much of a thing.

In fact, it should be said like this (like good people): No one is rejected here😂

thank you💐🙏

Well, the drawback is that there is no guarantee of volunteer, so in rares cases, it may be the responsibility of the poll proposer to double check the guidelines and technical limitations, before ultimately becoming curious that the poll suggestion is ineligible or "permanently" unwanted.

@jeorj_euler Yes, it can be said that way
Although I don't like this type of poll and I think it should change, but I'm getting along with it (:

@HamidrezaMpmm It is actually really hard for a suggestion to be completely rejected. If there is something that prevents it from going live, we try to always offer comments or suggestions that can help it get approved. Sometimes with small stuff, and on rare ocassions suggesting changing the scope or question of the poll.

Only if the comments are ignored then the poll is passed on, but the possibility to update it is always there,

Polls that are definitively rejected are, almost always, related to time sensitive events. For example if we get many award suggestions, those that weren't picked before the ceremony are not reallu usable once it is done, and some old suggestions are not usable because the description maked reference to a dated event (which could be uodated but on ocassions the author is no longer active so there's no way to save them).

The other common reason to reject a suggestion, it's if the poll has been published before or suggested before by other user, in which case we try to let the author now and ask him to change it for something different.

This doesn't mean that all suggestion will be published, but it makes it hard to tell people if something is definitively rejected as there is always a possibility to improve things and use a suggestion, no matter how old.

@Pencho15 They cannot be used based on time, for example, which movie will win the Oscar in 2022?
2- The rest of the polls, which hopefully will come live one day
But the point is that the number of suggested posts is not equal to the number of live polls, so always a high percentage of polls never go live.
So we reject polls in another way, without knowing which one was rejected.
For example my first poll suggestion didn't go live, and in my view that suggestion has been rejected, so of course I'm more comfortable
Thank you for the information you provided

Got 401 lists, but only 226 polls. Got no problem with it. My mind factory still works fine for new ideas. :D Sometime it happens, sometimes not. Ok. :D

P.S.: Why refuse it definitely? Maybe later in fitting situation, it could be the right thing to publish. Patience is a good thing. Just Look at Paok, he does several ideas nearly every day. Sure not all of his can be published, but lay there for maybe later? Patience is the key.

@Pencho15 Excuse me, part of my text was left behind when pasting, I rewrote it😐🤦‍♂️🤫😂

So polls are divided into two categories
1- They cannot be used based on time, for example, which movie will win the Oscar in 2022?
2- The rest of the polls, which hopefully will come live one day
But the point is that the number of suggested posts is not equal to the number of live polls, so always a high percentage of polls never go live.

@Breumaster and @HamidrezaMpmm ,

Aris/Paok has long ago created more than the limit of 999 lists. Sadly, that means that he has deleted many lists associated with poll suggestions. Unfortunately, once the list associated with a poll is deleted, that poll can no longer be updated.

An alternative for Aris/Paok is to create another IMDb account. Other authors who hit the 999 list limit have used that strategy. IMDb staff has confirmed that a user can have multiple IMDb user accounts so long as they do not use the accounts for spamming, voting multiple times or other practices that violate IMDb's terms and conditions.

@dan_dassow

Why can't more than 999 lists be created?
I was very sad to hear this news
This is a very bad limitation
Why?

"Why can't more than 999 lists be created?" Well, it is a technical limitation that has existed for a long time, but proposal of an increase is probably worthy of an idea-type thread being created. The general gist if the situation as it has been for a long while is that the IMDb developers will need to complete this ongoing upgrade to the new software platform before they will consider making less important updates to IMDb's infrastructure. Somehow this relates to why the company hasn't implemented the new genre options that were approved over a decade ago. Maybe it would be nice if the system was set up to allow IMDb staff and handpicked IMDb poll makers to be able to create more than a thousand IMDb lists.

@jeorj_euler So this is a technical limitation, not a selective limitation on imdb's part
I was upset when I read that Aris has deleted some of their lists or instead of deleting they have to create a new account.
He had put his time and effort into creating each listing.

@Pencho15 Shouldn't I write to Jeff Bezos about this?😂😂

@dan_dassow I don't think it's right for him to create a new account or delete some of his lists.
He has put effort and time into those lists.
In addition to lists for surveys, I personally make other lists and I think 999 lists is not a very large number at all.
I hope this restriction will be removed.

Haha. I wouldn't recommend contacting Jeff Bezos over this or anything like it. His focus thus far seems mostly to be around business solutions, literature retail, space travel. (Plus, we wouldn't want to go over Col's head, especially if the resources and engineers have already been allocated but reserved for a later time.) The relationship between A↔Z and IMDb is very nuanced too, so we hardly see any references to IMDb on the Shop, but yet we see at least a few references to the Shop on IMDb, but notably IMDb data (such as trivia and goofs) does show up on the Streaming Service and is attributed accordingly. Seemingly IMDb is hosted through AWS too, but this isn't easy to tell for all IMDb URLs.

@jeorj_euler Although part of your text was specialized and I did not understand it, but I promise you that if I get rich, I will buy imdb.😂
Later we can focus on other things instead of how to monetize the site

The company in which you have a majority stake will buy IMDb, if you get almost rich enough. Haha.

@HamidrezaMpmm Indeed, not all polls go live. We can publish a certain number each day, so not all will be used. But that doesn't mean they are rejected, as they always have a possibility. Rejection means no matter what they won't be used and that's not the case of yours or other user unused suggestions.
