Perhaps you should include a note that Slumdog Millionaire has a female co-director to avoid confusion. Same for Happy Feet.

I just watched Promising Young Woman last week, so it can't really compete with some of the others that I've watched several times before, but still probably the best flick I've seen in the last 12 months. Refreshing to see a film with no super powers, vampires, or aliens. I'm so bored of all the fantasy films of the last decade

"The Matrix" doesn't count. It was directed by men. And even if you think they are "women" now, they were still men when it was made.

And the obvious choice here is "The Hurt Locker." She kicked butt with that movie, even beat out her ex-husband for Best Picture lol.
