Contribution Feature: Multi-lingual Plot Outlines
Today (March 6, 2020), the team has extended our Multi-lingual plot contribution feature (referenced in this post -> https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/contribution-beta-opportunity-multi-lingual-plot-outlines ) to all contributors.
From today, all contributors are able to submit multi-lingual plots in the following languages:-
The feature is accessible from two locations.
Firstly, via IMDb Answers https://contribute.imdb.com/gaps/ where we surface trending titles that are missing a multi-lingual plot within our IMDb Answers questions feed, with a call to action to add missing ones. Here are example quick links for popular movies missing plots:-
Secondly, it is also now accessible in our regular contribution interface, primarily accessed via the button at the bottom of every title page. When contributing a new plot outline, a language field is now visible (and defaults to English):-
Multi-lingual plots are vetted by our team as usual, count towards end of year contribution numbers and you can track the status of your contributions as usual.
Note: Currently, these multi-lingual plots are not displayed within IMDb experiences. That work will take place in the future, as it is complex from an implementation perspective.
The IMDb Answers entry point eliminates any risk of submitting a duplicate plot, where we already have one in our catalog (the team has been working on this feature for quite a while).
Live multi-lingual plots can be seen from within our contribution experience, if you check the option from the menu.
Below, are the currently live plots on the movie Joker (2019), accessed via a quick-link -> https://contribute.imdb.com/updates?update=tt7286456:outlines.correct.all
You just need to select to add a plot for a language where we do not have one.
If you have questions or feedback on the feature, please respond to this thread.
Cheers,
Rachel

One question:
Some plot outlines seem already too long to be submitted, I tried to reduce the number of characters but because of the way that they are formulated, it is hard to do so.
Is it better to correct the entire existing plot outline or to submit another one?

Hi! Rachel, Employee
You should change
"Today, the team has extended our Multi-lingual plot contribution feature"
to
"May 6, 2020, the team has extended our Multi-lingual plot contribution feature"
as this may appear on the GS Gold Box top of page for a long time.
