Live Poll: How Many Movies Have You Given 10 Stars?

10 stars is reserved for the very best, and it is probably not the rating we use most often. How many movies have you given the highest IMDb score?

18 movies.

I never give a 10 as a first rating, only if several months have passed and I find the movie has an enduring appeal for me, then I upgrade a selected few from 9 to 10.

My tens are:

The Dark Knight

Jurassic Park

Singin' in the Rain

Inherit the Wind

Casablanca

On the Waterfront

All About Eve

La Grande Illusion

Le Trou

Black Swan

Le salaire de la peur

I Am A Fugitive from a Chain Gang

2:37

Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari

El secreto de sus ojos

Toy Story 3

Das Leben der Anderen

Children of Men

I think the questioning is a little spongy.

One could have rated 20 movies with 10/10, but only rated 40 movies all-in-all.

Another could have rated 100 movies with 10/10, but rated 4000 movies.

User 1 = 50%

User 2 = 2.5%

I think it would be better to ask for approximate - or felt - percentage. It would provide more options, maybe 20, 25, ... depending on the weighting you would preferr. Being more exact in the higher - or lower spectrum of results.

With shorts, TV-Series, ... 180. Have to count down the movies, only.

I see your point, but it's easier this way. Asking for percentage would require everyone to calculate their percentage before voting, which is too much work.

If you use the Advanced title search link, it's easier to count the movies.

Yes, it could scare-off people with calculation weakness, but I think guessing the percentage is not sooo bad. I just think it will generate not really accurate results, but total numbers of the voters and a lot of sympathy for movie posters. ;) Anyway it's your idea, I'm ok with it. On the other hand it's an interesting social experiment.

I'd say 150 of 5.064 such titles I rated. That's a percentage of 2.962085308056872

66 (or 7%) out of 924 rated movies. 7% of the films I've seen have not been 10s, though, so I think I tend to rate my favorite films more quickly than others. On my desktop, I have a running list of movies that I've seen and ratings that's more complete than my IMDb page because I started the list a few years before joining IMDb. It has at least a few thousand films so far and very few are tens. I wonder if I'll ever get my IMDb page caught up, lol.

@Jessica 'Fun poll. : )

In last times I updated my list by looking at my wifes ratings. There were many movies we watched together, but I didn't rate. so I did a few weeks ago. When you look in my ratings, you can see that more than 10 movies do have the same date in last times. I did that before. So you gotta have to catch up. ;)
