P.S.: Small Time Bank, Train, Highway, and Stagecoach Robbing Outlaw Gangster Movies

The list page: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls087518960/
These films are movies about small time roving outlaws who used gangs to commit their crimes. Don’t confuse these with mobster movies with mobster movies or street gang movies that stay in one place, running long time continuing crimes (AKA: Rackets), or having a high sophisticated level of organization. (This apart of my personal grudge with lumping bank robbers like Dillinger into the same category as mafia don Al Capone as “Gangsters”. They are not the same type of criminal!) These gangs are mobile and rob banks and trains and extra and are not confined to the 20th century or to the United States. The list is too heavily weighed with depictions or actual don’t stay in one place gangs/gangsters/outlaws, but fictional ones are included too. Which is your favorite film?

This list is poorly constructed. So if you can suggest better ones, over 6.0 ratings and over 555 votes or more, make your suggestions by posting your wanted posters here.

Robin Hood will not be listed here because while many of these tried to compare them selves to Robin Hood and sometimes give some of their stole loot to others, almost all of them proved to be just stone cold killers in the end.

The movies with no notes, except for “True Grit”, are the ones with the fictional gangs.

Definitely need better selections!

Definitely shorter description, title, and notes!

Cinephile, I hope you know that you had inspired this when you had lumped “White Heat” and “Bonnie and Clyde” in with “The Godfather”. They were not even remotely the same type of criminal as a mobster. But don’t worry. I have the same beef as with historians that do that too. Bank robbers and kidnappers are not the same as mobsters.

dgranger,

My vote: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

= = =

For your consideration:
The St. Louis Bank Robbery (1959)
A gang's plans for a St. Louis bank robbery are complicated when the sister of one of the thieves starts voicing her well-founded suspicions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_St._Louis_Bank_Robbery

The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery (also called The St. Louis Bank Robbery, the film title in the opening credits) is a 1959 heist film, directed by Charles Guggenheim and starring Steve McQueen as a college dropout hired to be the getaway driver in a bank robbery.

Based on a 1953 bank robbery attempt of Southwest Bank in St. Louis, the film was shot on location in 1958 with some of the men and women from the St. Louis Police Department, as well as local residents and bank employees, playing the same parts they did in the actual robbery attempt.[1] Steve McQueen was quite unknown when filming began, because he wouldn't get the role of Josh Randall in the TV series Wanted Dead or Alive till some months later.

I think there's a typo here:

The list is too heavily weighed with depictions of actual don’t stay in one place gangs/gangsters/outlaws, but fictional ones are included too.

Perhaps you can remove the part "This list is poorly constructed." when you think the list is all right.

Actually there was more than one there. Corrected.

dgranger,

Please consider shortening your title from:
Small Time Bank, Train, Highway, and Stagecoach Robbing Outlaw Gangster Movies

To this or something similar
Movies About Small Time Robbers and Thieves

Changed it. Gangs has to stay a part of the title.

Dgranger, there's still a typo in the description that Peter noted above this message.

Thanks, just once last thing. Perhaps the line "This list is poorly constructed. So if you can suggest better ones, over 6.0 ratings and over 555 votes or more" should be deleted.

Once it is published there's no need for a text mentioning the poll could be better and asking for other options.

Ok, the list is full. I would have suggested
Lucky Logan
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5439796/
or
The Sting
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070735/

@Breumaster I had thought of the sting too and rejected it. It has to be a gang that has to be together for more than just one heist or job.
