Yes, the title needs to be shortened, but I would suggest:

Fictional Horror Stories Inspired by Real People or Events

Maybe the other line could be included below instead.

Here is something truly scary for Halloween... 

While it is no secret of the scarier movies are from fiction based on or inspired true life events or people, it may surprise you that some of the classic gothic fiction is actually the same. So here are some stories based on or inspired by actual events that have been turned into movies. (That is why this is an image list because some of these stories have been done more than once.) Which scary story, not movie, got scarier when you found out it is based on a real person or event?

If you got any to scary “news stories” (since some of these were news in the past) that were fictionalized into stories and made into movies, series, and etc, submit them to the editor here. This list will not go the full 35!

P.S. A shout out to the true life crime and horror story of Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) which the story of these crimes was also told in the 1st act of the film The FBI Story (1959). (IMDb, please don’t ask for this fact to be deleted from this description.)
