While, this movie seems to fit the bill given its pedigree. I have been adding other older and lower IMDb voted titles into the poll that are both well-acclaimed and well-known internationally.

The action in film takes part in two locales, opening in the rural Shuiquan village and closing in the bustling city of Zhangjiakou. I don't think any of the film happens actually in Beijing.

ZhangJiakou (yellow) is a distinct city from Beijing (white), but lies just to the north of it. I looked it up to see its 4.5 million inhabitants were considered part of the greater Beijing metropolitan area which has 20 million inhabitants, but it seems large enough and distinctly seperated to stand-alone. While, the cities seem to border each other their centers are seperated by 100 or so miles. As a result, it would be hard to justify it as a Beijing film.

@Pencho15

I added Johnny Mnemonic to the answer pool. I was on the fence about it before, due to the movie spanning several different locales. But, Beijing and Newark seem to be the two main settings for the film.

Likewise, Man of Tai Chi has similar concerns as the film unfolds in different locales. But, Beijing seems to be a significant location enough to justify its inclusion too.

@urbanemovies I trust your judgement, I haven't seen either film, but reading about them it seemed that Beijing played an important part.

Thank, they were both worth a second look as the pickings of listed notable Beijing movie titles is pretty slim on IMDb.

I gotta think their are hundreds of domestic films about the capital that are not listed on the site.

@urbanemovies

Sorry, I thought the city part of the film was set in Beijing. Haven't seen it in a long time. Thanks for checking.

I am not 100% sure either. But, given there in no mention in the plot summaries of Beijing and the distance between the two, I thought it safer to exclude the film. I appreciate the suggestion though.

Urb, please move your thread from the idea to the praise category. We can no longer do it ourselves.

@Pencho15 Thanks, I updated the introduction yesterday to adjust the tense, since the games have ended. I must have messed it then or quite possible missed the praise selection when I updated when it went live. Anyways, I fixed it.
