Live Poll: Golden Christmas Moments

Intro:

It's Christmas again, the time of fraternity and family. People come together to celebrate the sense of community in common tradition of the past centuries. In movie history there were golden moments of humanity in christmas time.

Which of these moving moments did win your heart the most?

Cheer here.

Suggestions:

Like in the examples. Movies, not TV-series, animated Movies welcome when rated 7.0/10+ Documentations also ok. I need a description of the scene/situation and a proper image that shows what it's about - an image people can link to the scene in mind. If there are no suggestions, I would make it a Face-Off. I know that there were made many suggestions about christmas before. The options can be the difference.

Thank you for your interest. I'm very sorry to have forgotten the list-link. I didn't have the moment's in mind, which are qualifying christmas or just make pure fun of it. It's more about the coming together and finding ties to the people around. The christian bond which takes us all in one boat. Not the all year consuming party for everyone. I search for golden moments. And I do really like Schwarzenegger. I think beside being a real tough guy, he is a great man. Strong and a heart of gold. Instead of these fun-only-scenes, I would preferr the scene, when his son realizes that his father is Turbo Man. I'm searching for an image. Maybe we can find one.

Love the suggestion. My choice is the culmination of It's A Wonderful Life when the town shows up to help George Baily and his brother Harry delivers the speech.

Thank you, moviesmith. I've put the golden moment on the list. I'm not sure, if I rather should delete the first suggestion, but also think they are both interesting. Maybe I should let it depend on how many suggestions arrive. I got another poll idea for users to take part by themselves and their most beloved polls. Are you interested in?

Pencho, I've put them all of the list except Santa Clause. The verdict of 2.6 the ~5000 users is crushing!

@Breumaster It is indeed a crushing verdict, sadly it is a missunderstood movie as it is a Christmas classic here.

When there were message boards I learned people were voting the film based on a English dubbed version released in the U.S. that changed several things in the plot, making uo things like Santa coming from outer space, a wild idea that is not close to anything that happens in the real version.

There were other critics that made fun of Mexican Christmas tradition without understanding them and giving the film low ratings due to that. I had a long thread explaining and defending the film from all the complaints, but that one was gone with the message boards.

It is a film for kids, not anything deserving particular praise, but it doesn't deserve the terrible ratings at all.

This is one that tears at the heart.

Ebenezer Scrooge: [on Tiny Tim] Tell me, Spirit... Will he live?

Ghost of Christmas Present: I see a vacant place at this table. I see a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved. If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, the child will die.

Ebenezer Scrooge: No. Say he'll be spared.

Ghost of Christmas Present: If these shadows remain unaltered by the future, none other of my species will find him here. But if he is to die, then let him die and decrease the surplus population.

Ebenezer Scrooge: You use my own words against me?

Ghost of Christmas Present: Yes. So perhaps, in the future, you will hold your tongue until you have discovered what the surplus population is and where it is. It may well be that, in the sight of Heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor man's child.

Can I not have Billy Bob Thornton dressed as Santa being gunned down by the police in front of some screaming children?? 😀

Then I'll probably have the Bill Murray Scrooged one...

I don't understand in which way that can be golden.

I was being sarcastic. However the scene is kind of uplifting, the character of Bad Santa has turned over a new leaf, turned his back on his selfish and criminal ways and is trying to deliver a present to a young kid when he is gunned down. So it kind of works... haha

The Santa Clause (1994)  when the sleigh first arrives at the North Pole and then descends into Santa’s workshop. John Pasquin truly created a pure piece of magic here when the sleigh arrives and there is silence at the pole and the set is just the bare essentials, and darkness, and cold tones.  Erasing all the effects of the previous scenes, and starts setting up the audience to take them into a new direction with the fantasy. Then Loreena McKennitt’s beautiful song “The Bells of Christmas” starts to play. The Elf comes and raises the North Pole and pushes a few buttons and the sleigh starts to descend into Santa’s North Pole City. The orchestra and children’s choir starts to swell as the scene starts to swell with an impeccable montage of the elves at work and play. The picture just opens up here with a lot of wonder and warm tones in the image. Pasquin captured pure magic here.
the scene as it plays: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CK7NELkKqhM

and since the music is such a large portion of the scene, the Loreena McKennitt’s “The Bells of Christmas”. And yes, Disney owns the rights to the song and is sitting on them like Scrooge squeezes hard a penny. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3cwV3gg9p5c

@Breumaster I did and voted. I did spot a small typo of little or no consequence. It should have been “By Loreena McKennitt” instead of “Of Loreena McKennitt”.

Sorry for that. I didn't get that she was also there and singing. But the difference is such minor that I don't want to change it. People who vote and know the scene will pick it anyway, if they want to. If the yt-video would been of better image-quality, I guess I would have seen her.
