Live Poll: The Spirit of the Magi: Gifts for the Epiphany (Jan 6, 2026)

  1. January 6th—known as Epiphany, Three Kings Day, or Twelfth Night—marks the grand finale of the Christmas season. Whether it’s the literal journey of the Wise Men or the "Gift of the Magi" spirit of selfless love, which film is your favorite for the 12th day of Christmas?

'Beautiful poll, Dan. I've seen six of these and five were very good. I can't remember the sixth, "The Little Drummer Boy," well at all, although I've always loved the idea of the the little drummer boy and as you may know, I love the song. I also love the O. Henry story and I remember seeing O. Henry's Full House when I was growing up. It reminds me of my mother and father, who I watched it with, so that's my sentimental favorite. My parents both thought the story was beautiful and I've always thought my Mom often lived according to its spirit. This poll makes me quite nostalgic. Oh, and I agree that 'Babette's Feast' is a masterpiece.

@Peter_pbn ,

Thanks for the suggestion. I added:

Monty Python's Life of Brian - A satirical and irreverent take on the Epiphany that begins with the Three Wise Men mistakenly visiting a stable where a baby named Brian was born, only to realize their error and reclaim their gifts for the "real" king next door.

I’m not Christian and don't know much about this holiday, except for the part that the Three Kings were likely Persian. Either way, I grew up watching The Polar Express, and it’s still one of the biggest symbols of Christmas in my mind!

@RezaKJoi ,

I added: The Polar Express - A skeptical young boy embarks on a metaphorical pilgrimage to the North Pole, paralleling the journey of the Magi as he seeks a sign of the miraculous and discovers that the true "first gift of Christmas" is only audible to those whose hearts remain open to the spirit of belief.

I added this note: Note: While in some traditions the twelfth night is celebrated on January 5th, in others it is celebrated on January 6th.
