Poll Suggestion: So Adorkable!

Which of these movie nerds played by non-geeky-looking actors would you say is the most "adorkable"?

Just found out that list was pending for two years, any suggestions are welcome but with pictures, it would be better, not sure I should include Jerry Lewis as the Nutty professor.

“Jerry Lewis as the Nutty professor” why not? He created the character. And since you included a dead actor, Cary Grant, why not include Jerry?
Garry Cooper in Ball Of Fire (1941). I know that one specially because over at the Satchmo polls, I was talking about it’s musical remake “A Song Is Born” starring Danny Kaye in Garry Cooper’s role. They are both based on the same Billy short story ”From A to Z”.
Just take every single name from the caption of this picture from Real Genius https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089886/...
And don’t forget The Breakfast Club” Anthony Michael Hall.
“Family Natters” you know who...

I wanted to stick on 'characters with glasses' because that's the cinematic way to turn a stud into a nerd, I'll consider your suggestions... ( butno "Family Matters", this is about movie nerds and I think actor Jaleel White is mostly associated with Steeve Urkel so I'm not sure he fits the description, that's why I didn't include Harry Potter... maybe I should.)

I had to demonstrate this one, during an oral test, it took me half the blackboard but I remember the satisfaction when I immediately thought of introducing the natural logarithm. The next question was tricky:

If you have "n" holes, numbered from 1 to n, and "n" balls, also numbered. Suppose you're blindfold and put each ball in one hole. What are the odds of not having a single coincidence? (which means no "ball i" in "hole i", i being included between 1 and n)

Next question of course, what is the limit of that probably when "n" goes to infinity?

If you're talking about the second one, the trick is to take the opposite event, which is "having at least one coincidence" and then separate it into a set of different events "having 1 coincidence and only 1", "having 2 coincidences and only 2" until "n".
Since these events aren't compatible with each other, we agree that the combination equals the sum, so once you determine an event "i" in terms of "i" and then you calculate the sum and define the limit when "n" goes to infinity.
And the trick is that it uses the result of the previous question.
I remember the final answer was 1/e.
Aaah, memories.

You clearly have not interacted sufficiently with Dan Dassow.
Damn, I wish I did.

Math is like a second, or maybe third passion... it's been like 20 years that I tried to solve that equation, it's driving me crazy.

O, I mentioned that because supposedly most human beings who have ever existed found/find facial feature dimensions that conform to the golden ratio to form the most attractive faces.

Oh, wow... I been thinking about it for a while.  I have no clue.  I am terrible at math.  :/

LOL!  Wow, that was pretty obvious... more like a riddle than a math problem.  That makes it a lot better.  :)

Talia / Abi,

As a kindred spirit who has loved math since kindergarten, may I humbly suggest you create a poll related to STEM.
