Live Poll: IMDb Poll Board's Most Fantastic Little Classical Horror Movie Gems

Intro:

We took a closer look on horror classics that were released before 2000. The idea is not to choose the most famous classic, but the little one with the best idea and eventually the best making according to the circumstances at the time it was released. So we only have chosen movies with lesser than 60.000 votes (according to may 2024) and a fantastic scenario.

Which of these user's picks is also your favorite, or which of them are you most interested to see? Please give us additional ideas here.

Suggestions:

FMovies released before 2000 with lesser than 60.000 votes. NO rating limit!

Nosferatu - Phantom der Nacht (1979)

It's the only horror movie I've seen that fit your criteria, and fortunately, I happen to love it. :)

Thank you very much for your interest in the subject. I will put your suggestion instantly on the list when the old list-editing is back. Please write again when IMDb returned to a more healthy state and the editor for lists is fixed to normal. Thank you, Jessica.♥ :D

Sadly, the lists will probably stay this way.

But would you please consider using the link-hack that Maxence figured out? You know, just put 'edit-larger' in the url and you can edit the lists with the old format.

You have so many good pending suggestions...

I can't find how to do that, I lost the posting. It's something with large at the end. I would do, even though I have no time, but sure no time to search for it. If you can tell me how, I'll try it with this posting.

Go to your list, click Edit.

In the url, add -larger after edit, so it says edit-larger. Press Enter and you should see the old version.

How about the original "The Little Shop of Horrors" from 1960?  It is not a musical and I believe it fits all other criteria.

Maybe this can be removed since the list isn't in chronological order:

(The movies are in order of their age.)

Yes. He seemed to have good suggestions. Maybe he only got privated. I wanted to give him the chance to repeat his choice. I know on my own that I ofen lft a message and wondered 1 week later seeing it got privated. But if there is no readable message I can't put it on the list, somehow.

What do you mean, "disappeared"? I'm not on the site 24 hours a day!

hutch48 (IMDb member in good standing since 1999)

P.S. What do you mean by "privated"? I'm away for a day and now we're speaking a new language?

I just noticed the little purple tag saying "Private" ... no idea where that came from or why. My list, assuming you can no longer see it, is:

THE SHOUT (1978)

THE LONG HAIR OF DEATH (1964)

THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE (1973)

THE INNOCENTS (1961)

HOUSE OF WAX (1953)

Suddenly my last message also has a "Private" tag. Who is doing this? It isn't me.

That's exactly what I meant by "privated." There's an automatic correctness check on the site that always checks everything to make sure it's written in compliance with the rules. When I clicked the bell icon, it still showed the movies you left. When I clicked on that, it jumped to the thread, but not to your post. Since I'm not you, I can't see the "privated" post. That's what I meant by "disappeared," sorry. Of course we don't have to invent a new language. If you post the movies again, I can add them as options to the list.

I think it's certain words that make comments private, though I'm not exactly sure which ones.

I'm sorry I mistook you for a spammer. We've had a lot of those here in the forum.

So it's an automated anti-troll measure, run by bots with minimal discrimination.  Perhaps IMDb should get better programmers.

I notice that now the "Private" tag has been removed from the "offending" posts. Can you see them now?

Thank you for recanting! It is very courteous of you. I'm not so bad when you get to know me!

Are these "rules" for acceptable language written down somewhere? Otherwise, it's random and baseless censorship.

I don't think so, or at least, the IMDb staff haven't shared them with us.
