Live Poll: Flying Fortress (Bomber) in Movies

Hello, poll forum, another idea for your consideration, feedback welcome, thank you.

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is a four-engined heavy bomber developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) and it was the third-most produced bomber of all time, behind the Consolidated B-24 Liberator and Junkers Ju 88.

Which is your favorite film or documentary related to a Flying Fortress (Bomber)?

Nice list

FYI,

A Time of Love and War

The Mighty Eighth

IMDb has these minor titles as in-development, but as they both have teaser trailers already, they may be close to release,  as some filming has already occured.

I only mentioned them as a point of interest (fyi, not fyc) and something to keep tabs on. They can't be valid answer options, as they can't be anyone's favorite until they are released.

FYC, I would delisted Lancaster. I couldn't find a detailed plot, but the title likely refers to "the Avro Lancaster, a British four-engined strategic bomber that was used as the RAF's principal heavy bomber during the latter half of the Second World War."

Mario, is it enough to habe a bombing scene in a movie or should the movie be centered on that war machine? Is it ok to pick bomber centered movies when the bomber is fiction or should the movie also be centered on reality?

If it can be a fictional bomber, I would pick the movie Stealth with a bomber that works alone by A.I.

Thank you for the title. 👍Being just related (not centered) to a flying fortress B-17 is ok. But I want to keep a little bit of historical accuracy... I watched the youtube trailer and that stealth bomber is a little bit too futuristic...✈

It's pure Science Fiction, not historical. It's ok, when you don't want to add it. My suggestions are alway just for consideration. I suspected that, but wanted to know.

@mariojacobs,

By the way, the B-17 Flying Fortress is really cramped quarters. I had the opportunity to go through a fully restored flying B-17 and I just barely made it through the aircraft.

and I went through a replica of a U-Boat, WW2 german submarine, I could not believe how small it was! I had an acute fit of Claustrophobia and had to get out of it.

@mariojacobs,

In both cases it helps to have a height under 5'8" and weigh less than 150 pounds. My paternal grandfather served on a US WWI submarine. WWI submarines were even more cramped than WWII submarines.

I was shocked because I really thought the inside of a submarine was like this
