@Breumaster

You can also find some characters here:

https://www.imdb.com/poll/AdNuJSJSKbA/

I think it's  interesting you made a male pendant to my poll.

You could call it "Mr. Scar" or "Sir Scar", whatever.

You can also let the title stay like it is. Then it's universal for m/f.

Just for your consideration. ;)

On the other hand there was an other poll with scarfaces from Paok three years ago:

https://www.imdb.com/poll/RnDobuw54n0/

@Breumaster Thanks for your help, it’s been added. From now on, whenever someone gives me a suggestion, I’ll add their name to the list.

@Breumaster Thank you. Do you use a specific algorithm to find similar polls? If you do, teach it to me as well😆. And if not, then I have to say you must have a very strong mind. I’ve decided to delete this post because you and Aris_Athanas have created excellent polls on this topic. Once I’m sure you’ve read this comment, I’ll delete the post.

"Thanks for your help, it’s been added. From now on, whenever someone gives me a suggestion, I’ll add their name to the list.

If it fits, why not? I wouldn't do it blindly. Sometimes people are over-enthusiastic, which can lead to give suggestions that fit only peripheral. It's up to the poll writer to think of coherence, if it fits to the idea he/she has. I always think if suggestions fit to my idea and the criteria I sat. If they do, I'll take them on the list. It's all about give and take. ;) What to take is your decision. ;)

"Do you use a specific algorithm to find similar polls?"

Please don't think complicated. You have the tool right here in the forum. Simply take the most obvious keyword for a search. Just go to the poll-topic and then enter Scar, you will see. Topic: The topics are linked up in the window near the bell.

In that case the word "scar" is pretty obvious. When you use the whole word "scarface", there may be many poll ideas and entries that are attached to the film 'Scarface', maybe the one of 1932, or the one of 1982. But when you center only on scar, it searches all entries with "scar", which also may contain the Scarface-movie-polls and -entries, but also all the other entries like scar-themed polls.

@Breumaster Thanks for your help.I’ll definitely try to add any suggestions that fit the list, so its credibility doesn’t decrease.I mostly use the imdbstats website to find similar polls. My main problem was that instead of using “scar,” I used “Scarface,” which led me in the wrong direction.Another issue was that when you use the word “scar,” it also brings up polls containing the word “Oscar,” which made it very difficult to find polls similar to mine.

@Jessica

First, I should say thank you for your help — both for suggesting the character and for adding the picture. But I have two questions for you:

  1. Similar polls had already been created before, which I didn’t know at first (I’ll put the links so you can see). Now I feel that with those existing polls, mine isn’t really necessary. What do you think?https://www.imdb.com/poll/AdNuJSJSKbA/ -https://www.imdb.com/poll/RnDobuw54n0/

  2. Isn’t it possible to delete a post? Do you have any other suggestion? Imagine my poll is exactly like someone else’s and I want to delete it — what should I do? Thanks.

If you want, you could make a Part 2 to Paok's poll and exclude all the options from that one.

Breu's poll focuses on female movie characters so it's already a bit different.

Another option is to include only TV characters which would make it different to both Paok's and Breu's.

Urbanemovies also made a suggestion below.

If you wish to delete this or any other thread, please request it here:

@RezaKJoi It is not uncommon to have to rework a poll and it ends up being different than you originally imagined. I agree a thorough pre-search for existing live polls and outstanding poll suggestions is great way to avoid complications and save time and effort. I like Jessica's idea to do a TV poll focused on TV characters from TV series and TV movies only. Another idea could be to focus on actors / celebrities / actresses with scars on their faces or bodies, which I don't think has been done as a poll, although I wouldn't call the poll Scarface. The depth of answer pool options is larger than you think, and includes plenty of notable celebrities: Jason Mamoa, Peter Dinklage, Montgomery Clift, Michael K. Williams, Tina Fey, Steve Buscemi, Sean Bean, Miles Teller, Harrison Ford, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and others. Some even credit their scar for making them a stronger person and better performer and there is always a story behind the scar. boredpanda.com/celebrity-scars/ & celebritytoob.com/celebrities-with-notable-scars-on-their-faces/

I think Jessica's and urbane's  ideas are good. You can rebuild your idea, if you want. You still have a few possibilities to do so. Making it a part 2, or a TV Series scar-poll are good examples.

Other ideas:

Change the question:

Which scar looks the worst or meanest or scariest?

Which scar/scars look the most interesting?

Which character earned his/her scars the hardest?

(for proud characters that wear their scar as a distinction or even honor)

Which character suffered for his scar/scars the hardest?

The TV-character's scars idea is also good, I got another one:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3006802/mediaviewer/rm450156032/

Jamie Fraser in Outlander

There are a few ways to redo your idea. If I'd think of, I guess I could find some other ways. That's a matter of training it and comes with time. If you want to, just open your mind and try. :D

Which these characters with scar would you most like to meet?

(sympathy)

Which of these characters with scar would you most like to undo the scar?

Which of these characters with scar would you most like to hug or pet? (maybe a little condescending)

(empathy)

Which of these characters with scar would you most like to kiss? (confrontational to the voter, questionable)

(attraction)

Which of these characters with scars do you hate the most?

Which of these characters with scar did you most like to see getting killed? (extreme question, confrontational to the voter, questionable)

(uglies/means/vain/rotten):

Emil from Robocop - scars and deformations from ACME bath, got killed by car in the movie.

(for that question it's especially hard to find characters = more unique, when ready)

Which character with scar has the coolest hair?

(fashion, maybe contemporary, like e.g. medieival characters' hair = more unique)

So it could also be:

Which of these medieval characters with scar has the most interesting hair?

(but then needs medeival characters like the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: King of Thieves)

which character with scar is the most evil/dangerous/cold-blooded/psychopathic? (last one = hard to find)

Which character with scar has the most effective weapon/plan/tactic?

(warrior/schemer/negotiator)

@urbanemovies Thanks for your help, for the names and the time you spent. Seeing that you also spend a lot of time searching for similar polls makes me feel I’m not alone😆. Yes, I think I should create a new poll, but with the same focus.

@Breumaster You and the others really gave amazing suggestions — so much that now I feel like I can create several different polls. Thanks a lot. I’ll definitely change the poll, and I hope it turns into something good

@Breumaster Wow, such interesting titles — you really didn’t have to go that far. Thanks for spending so much time and helping. Now it’s even harder… I don’t know which one to choose

@riverotter Thanks for your help — both for finding the character and the images. Just a moment ago I told Jessica (who also suggested characters) that there are already two similar polls to this one (the links are a bit above), and that I feel maybe this poll isn’t really necessary anymore. But if I decide to continue with this poll, I will definitely add your options to the list.

Personally, I think the original scarface is a must add option, as Paul Muni playing Tony in Scarface  (1932). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023427/mediaviewer/rm2604326658/?ref_=ttmi_mi_1/

I also like Jack Huston's Richard Narrow character from the Boardwalk Empire (2010) TV series https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0979432/mediaviewer/rm3183248384/?ref_=ttmi_mi_3_1/ or the more graphic https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0979432/mediaviewer/rm1799151362/?ref_=ttmi_mi_3_4/

I don't there is a need for second mixed-sex scarface poll that is driven by another favorite question. But, if you can come up with a more interesting and different question, like: Which character portrayal, that is wounded both physically and emotionally, is scared the most?, or some other take, I could see the value in a second poll that could co-exist with the first poll.

@RezaKJoi Just to clarify.I think using Scarface is okay in the question and title for characters, but for real people I think it would be insensitive.
