Golden Age (or classic) Slapstick Comedians or something like that, including the word slapstick...

Being so, I am not sure Abbott and Costello would fit, I think their humor is a little bit more intellectual. I intend to rewatch their movies again.

@mariojacobs @jeorj_euler​ I don't think Abbot and Costello are as well known now a days. I think Laurel and Hardy is even a bit of a stretch at this point. 

@themoviesmith​ I would disagree, I think Abbot and Costello are in the same class as the others, both in the past and currently. I think they belong in the answer pool, especially since they were comedic titans in their day. Further, you can follow the cinematic comic team mantle, as the premiere comedy team of the era, being passed from Laurel and Hardy to the Marx Brothers to Abbot and Costello to the Three Stooges to Martin & Lewis, as the each dominated their era in films from the 1920s to the 1960s. While, I think it is debatable who is top-ranked and who is last-ranked, I don't it is debatable that they all belong in the same grouping.

FYC, a tweaked wording, you can remove Abbot and Costello from the text and change  the quantity from four to three, if necessary.

My impression is that the Marx Brothers and Laurel & Hardy are the best known internationally, though it may depend where you're from.
