BTW, the picture from The Return of the King doesn't actually depict Orthanc (Saruman's tower), but Meduseld, The Golden Halls of Edoras in Rohan.

Thank you for the explanation. Such fails always reveal that I'm not a a hardcore fan of LOTR. But please look at the image. It destroys the optical impression of the list. It's close to look like a black square with a few white ants on it. Do you have a better image? That would be nice.

If you do not want to use it, you could put the interior of Rivendell in The Fellowship. The best interior from Middle-Earth would be The Halls of Mandos in Valinor (Valinor is where elves and Frodo, Gandalf and Bilbo go at the end), but that is only depicted in Tolkien's The Silmarillion book (the complete Middle-Earth history). Shame we didn't see it on screen (although Silmarillion would be impossimble to adapt).

The Helm's Deep fortress is actually called Hornburg, so you could say: Hornburg Fortress Halls (optionally say: in Helm's Deep)

Also, you could also mention that The Golden Halls of Edoras are called Meduseld. For example: The Golden Halls of Edoras (Meduseld). :D

We had a poll author who retired many years ago, Drevnibor. You reminded me of him, and he's also from Serbia, which is a weird coincidence.

He made the first group of polls in my list of Middle-earth polls.

He was our Tolkien guy, so yeah, maybe you can inherit that title. :)

What a coincidence! I knew he made polls about Middle-earth many years ago, but had no idea he was from Serbia. Although, it makes sense because Drevnibor is a name made out of two Serbian words: "drevni" (which means ancient, very old) and "bor" (pine). So, his name would literally translate to "ancient pine". Since he was a Tolkien expert, I'll definitely inherit his title. :)

That made me smile. He told us about that. We used to have a thread on the old message board where you explained what your username and profile image means. This was the time before IMDb decided to disable all the message boards. Generally, things were more fun back then.

It indeed seems that things were much more fun back then... But then they shut down the boards and made up this forum... I didn't have an account back then, but was aware of the boards. Luckily, we still have the poll board here. :)

And, regarding the name thread, that must have been amazing! The significance of my username isn't really special. Vandurath is the name of that blue dragon on the picture. Just something I made up. 

@Jessica​ Yep, a blast from the past.  I remember Drevnibor.  He answered a lot of questions for me about LOTR that I didn't quite understand.  I also enjoyed the poll board and making polls back in the old days!  Thanks for the reminder.

That's not the movie with Jhonny Depp, but the 2023 filming with Timothée Chalamet. Did you watch it?

@Breumaster​   The version with Gene Wilder from 1971 is a masterpiece.  It is one of my top five all time favorite movies.  The one with Johnny Depp (where he is channeling Michael Jackson in his performance) is pure cinematic garbage.  The newest one with Timothy Chalamet is merely mediocre.

I wouldn't have the idea to pick that. The one with Depp didn't make a big impression on me. But the set of Wonka is interesting. I would like to go to this mall and visit Wonka, just because of the setting.

@Breumaster​   You need to see the original with Gene Wilder.  I believe that it was filmed in Munich (you are German, correct?).

I know Geiselgasteig, the filming area, visited it. I climbed through the life-size replica of the boat from the movie 'The Boat'. But the time 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory' from 1971 was shot in a time close before me. I know the movie and saw it twice. I know it's good and beautiful. I like it. It has an educating character for kids who watch it. Gene Wilder does great. But that doesn't mean I'm not open for new interpretations of the stuff. I'm open minded. So I also give sequels a chance. I did like the impression of the mall.

I read the book as a kid and saw the movies later (a long time after they came out). I must say that the movie with Johnny Depp is a little bit more accurate to it than the 1971 classic. Neither of them is fully accurate to the book, but the newer one is slightly following it more. I don't say the newer one is better, just objectively saying that it is a bit more faithful to Roald Dhal's work (but that one isn't a really good adaptation either). I liked both movies.

Due to the rules I can't put it on the list without erasing another. Maybe if there are no further suggestions, I'd open it for three movies per franchise. But only with good images. I want to keep the imagery in a high quality. That's why I asked about the black square. ;D

It's on you to decide is Lothlorien really an interior. It's one of the best examples how could a place look completely magical and from another world, but it is basically entirely in the trees without walls and celling.

What Do you suggest about the darker image? I'm open for your ideas. Jessica and you are the better fans, imho. So you should suggest better images for it, if you want. The better it is for fans, the better it is all-in-all. ;) I'd just need the text for the interior and which movie it is from.

I think that the paths of the dead would be the best. So, the final arrangement would be: The Mines of Moria (Fellowship, possibly with that other picture), Rivendell (Fellowship) and Paths of the Dead (Return of the King). But let's see what Jessica thinks.

I think the current image of Moria is the best one.

As for the Paths of the Dead, I guess it would be cool (if you're not claustrophobic) but it's also kind of a similar environment to the mines. Might be more interesting to use Minas Tirith or Meduseld.

Please also consider ... to give the LOTR-Suggestions a chance in further polls, the poll-series must be interesting enough to continue it. That works best when there are also much other interesting options. I work on it. If you have an idea, plant it here. And don't forget the maximum of 2 images of the same franchise for each poll. So chose wise. I try to spread the as good as I can.
