If the possibility existed for travel into the past, then I would use the ability to complete various tasks simultaneously by basically creating multiple copies of myself. I'm not sure which particular movie represents this concept, apart from maybe Watchmen.
1) I would use the Biff Tannen tactic to get rich (bringing back in time almanacs). (Back to the future)
2) I would come back in time with inventions, books, paintings, etc. I would get extremely famous by claiming their ownership.
3) I would use time traveling as a way to evade justice.
4) I would have a discussion with Kant.
5) At first, I would make a ton of cash being a Nostradamus to attract the attention of kings. Then, I overthrow them, and I use my knowledge to create the biggest empire of mankind. I would create a religion about me to remain worshipped for ever and ever.
Of all the frequently-referenced philosophers, seemingly Socrates (who never actually wrote anything down) is my favorite. I've been meaning to check to see what a lot of the subsequent philosophers thought of his ideas and methods.
Many interesting options. But the one I would really do is not there. I am a historian, so I would love to simply have the chance to go sometime in the past and watch a historical event, or even just the daily life in a different time unfold before my eyes.
